Rasmus was a productive offensive player, with similar defensive skills. He posted a 5 WAR season in 2013, and a 3 WAR season in 2015 even before the nuclear postseason.

Save for a BABIP inflated fluke last season, Maybin has been a consistently poor hitter. I obviously hope he is awesome for us this year, but unless there are some supporting metrics to suggest actual improvement, I doubt anybody gives him more than a 4th OF contract.

Both Rasmus and Maybin have had fluke outlier WAR seasons (btw, 2.6 does not = 3).

Maybin does have the advantage of speed, athleticism and keeping in better health/shape.

Not saying he's going to break any sort of bank... but if he does down well down the stretch and in the playoffs, it will add to his next offered contract.

Marisnick sent back to Houston to have his hand/thumb examined.

Details were few in the clubhouse after the game but manager A.J. Hinch said twice that "it doesn't look good."

Maybin signing looks better all the time.

Yep - that's now a very important bench piece.

Glad Marisnick is gone. Tired of his low IQ baserunning and striking out in the clutch.

I heard on Fox Sports that Marisnick was distraught upon learning of your opinion on his IQ and the fact that he strikes out in clutch situations. I'm going to take a day off and visit with him in the hospital to reassure him that the progress that he's made this year is a good thing. Hopefully it'll help to keep his head held high and his focus on next year to come back stronger.

He and Maybin were your 4/5 OFers and PRers. Him getting hurt = more DJ Fisher.

In no way is this a good thing.

Not sure Marisnick wasn't a starter if healthy. Beltran has been batting less than Maybin.

Beltran? is not an OFer. Marwin is the LFer now, for better or worse.

Marwin may have been the 1B with Yuli as DH if Marisnick was healthy. Marisnick was nearly playing as much as the starters before he had some nagging issues and then the injury. That would have been a very balanced team.

That is debatable. Beltrans .182BA is better than Maybin's .147BA (in Sept). They are both terrible thus far in September other than Maybin's hero moments. No question who is better defensively though.

I'm going to have some spaghetti with turkey 'meat balls' because I don't eat cows, unless it's my birthday, then and only then will I eat a whataburger #3. 3 as in Jake+Maybin +marwin = lots of flexibility. Jake is one of the best at what he does. Who is going to throw altuve's helmet to the crowds now?

I don't know what they can do to prevent players to slide hand first. Add spikes to the side of the base? a softer material on the sides of the base, like those gel bike seats that don't hurt your crotch. Back to the magic shrooms I go.
