Friend does ticket promotions for the Express and said that they will be the in the Astros system next year. Rangers are taking AAA to San Antonio. Don't know if this has been confirmed yet; just thought it would be nice for other 'Stros fans in Austin to hear.
Their player development contract with the Rangers runs through '18, but that doesn't mean there can't be a mutual agreement to do otherwise. It's only a question of "when". I'd love it to be sooner than later.
A friend of mine from Baton Rouge said LA is more of a baseball state than football Shocked the hell out of me.
When I was living in RR and they were the Astros team, I went to 20-30 games per season. Only went when OKC came in after the change. Austin had always been an Astros territory but it switched fairly quickly when the Express went to the rangers. When Nolan made the change and the Ryan family was no longer involved in Arlington, it's been a foregone conclusion that the Astros would move back to RR. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see them eventually purchase the franchise. I love going to games at the Dell Diamond. It's a great experience for all ages.
Yeah, I see them trading in football season tix for better baseball ones all the time... Louisiana may have an underrated passion for baseball... but it still pales in comparison for their devotion to football.
And I just confirmed with a front office person. This is a done deal and he was told the news yesterday. b*stard shoulda texted me yesterday so I coulda broke the news!!!
They love everything LSU is good at, being the One School in a sports crazy state will do that. They support and travel amazingly well for both sports, but seeing a football game in Baton Rouge (you best be prepared if it's a night game) is an experience like no other.
It's supposed to be a four-way move/swap of teams: San Antonio Missions (AA) ownership purchases and moves Colorado Springs AAA team to San Antonio. Texas Rangers move AAA affiliation from Round Rock to new San Antonio AAA San Antonio Missions (AA) stays in Texas League and moves to Amarillo Houston Astros move AAA affiliation from Fresno to Round Rock
Thanks for the triangulations. That's great news. I'll miss seeing Tex League games in SA though, but that's a small price to pay.

Just means it won't happen early. As was mentioned before, the Rangers contract with Ryan-Sanders runs through the 2018 season. I'd guess there were discussions between all the teams involved and they decided not to rush things.
