I agree with you entirely on this, sir. I don't intend to line up as a Wade apologist: the jury is indeed out, but my hopes are up.

I *want* Wade to succeed -- not because he's Wade (from what I've heard out of Philly, he can kinda be a dick) -- but because he's an *Astro* now.

    Go Astros!

75 wins? 75???? We're 0-7 so far. There's no way in hell we're getting to 75. 60 maybe. I hate that the Rockets only have one game left. We go from getting to watch the hardest working team in the NBA, our beloved Rockets, to watching one of the crappiest, lackluster teams in all of baseball. I ran into Jeff Bagwell and his wife the other night at El Tiempo and he said he was "very, very concerned" about where we're headed. Gulp. That was reassuring.

    Bring on the Texans!

We shall see. I know this team is 0-7, but Lee and Pence won't emulate Mendoza all year long, and perhaps you're not aware just how horrifying a 100-loss team really is.

Not saying they're even *average* by any stretch, mind you; just that I think they'll lose about 85-90 games.

I *am* wishing I would have said 72 instead of 75, however. (but not 60)

Or our pitching to be this bad. Maybe Paulino & Norris, but I expect established veterans to play better. Berkman will hopefully be back. and we won't be facing the Giants/Phillies/Cardinals all season long. We really have a rough opening schedule. I'm looking forward to facing the Pirates starting the 23rd.

it is sad to think of fat elvis and oswalt retiring as 'never good enough to win the big one'. which of course is not true.

    f'n astros!

i don't really see that sentiment out there among baseball fans for players who never won a championship. no one says it of ted williams...or ernie banks...or tony gwynn...or griffey, jr....

I think half the players in the Hall of Fame never won a championship.
