tucker might just be one of those guys that needs to zone in a bit to start the year . after what he did after his slow start last year , he’s earned the benefit of the doubt
Last year he hit into the worst luck in the majors in April- it was t that he was performing poorly, his results just sucked. It’s possible it is nothing more than 2 unlucky April’s in a row.
Tucker is just hitting too many fly balls to the deepest part of the ball park along with umps hosing him so far. He's had 3-4 warning track outs to center that would be homers if pulled, ball was a 2019 ball, or it was 100 degrees outside.
I like Matijevic. Could be an everyday caliber bat and my guess is they like him more than Jones as a potential everyday 1B or bench bat. He also hits lefty which is a bonus. I hope he gets to play.
Most likely over the time Altuve is out, Diaz will be the everyday 2B with Goodrum backing up the infield and McCormick backing up the OF. I don’t expect Matijevic to get much run, although just as a reward he may play 1B for the 1-2 times Yuli rests. But I could be wrong. Maybe they’re planning on keeping Matijevic up and sending down Goodrum once Altuve is healthy, in which case Gurriel would likely see time as the backup 3B.
We have a plus starter languishing with no important role in the bullpen. We have Odo who has been worthless. This doesn’t seem like it should be a tough decision.
