This may have already been posted in the game thread but the Astros Twitter handle absolutely killed the Mariners. As a former prosecutor I will have to talk to colleagues to see if the Astros Twitter author will be charged with assault or perhaps attempted murder, though our players are likelier to get charged with the latter given their recent play.
Cole was the best pitcher in baseball in 2019. Verlander was generally better in 2019 than in 2022 but faded in the post-season probably due to all the innings he pitched that season.
For the baseball nerds out there: Great article from Fangraphs on how to teach batters to be better hitters. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/torontos-hunter-mense-on-developing-good-swing-decisions/ Feel like most of the behind-the-scenes articles on hitting focus on mechanics/timing or just vaguely talk about "we want our hitters to hit stuff they can do damage on" . This article is one of the best I've read in the utilization of sabermetrics in an easily digestible form for the prospects. They've essentially game'fied swing decisions.
As of today, the Astros sit at 10 games under .500 All Time. One strong finish to the season and we’re officially a winning team.
Activating Meyers while optioning Chas and Siri at the same time really was rather dramatic, now that I think about it.
So Austin Riley just signed for $21 million per. Tucker and Riley are good comps in terms of age, MLB experience and production. I think Tucker is just a tick under Riley's talent level. So could we sign Tucker to about 18 million a year?
I thought they were going to address his and Castro's status after the game. But haven't heard anything yet.
