Horrible pen mismanagement by Dusty in this series.

Also, Castro is unplayable at this point. Make a move.

Depends upon what you mean by “decent manager”. If you mean in game tactician- no, he sucks.
If you mean- filling out the perfect lineup card- again- he’s not very good at that.
But, guys like him, show up to play and they do what they are supposed to do and generally seem to be happy in the clubhouse and respect him.
That last part, over 262 game season, is much more important than the first two points combined, so, I guess I would say he’s a decent manager but not elite, and not a guy I’d give the edge to over any other manager match up other than maybe Dave Roberts.

so dusty is respected grandpa, not a dick. A lot of people can do that.

all I know is that he repeatedly makes idiotic decisions, like burning Yordan as a PH in that spot. PH Castro who can’t hit his way out of a paper bag instead of Aledmys, who then has to play LF anyway.

whatever one thinks of lineups and their impact on production … leading off with Siri and other dumb crap like that is inexcusable. I honestly don’t see how the clubhouse respects his brain. They respect the man, his life, and his accomplishments, but how do they not know he is a moron.

Yeah Castro has gotta go. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I know for sure it's not him continuing to see playing time.

There are a number of things to complain about Baker, but in his 18 plate appearances batting in the leadoff position, Siri had an OPS over 1.000.

Thinking back at this series, I'm fascinated about what's going on between Dusty and Abreu. He's hardly even playing anymore in spite of being great in all of his appearances? That kind of **** would piss me off if I were a player but apparently this is elite clubhouse management.

Just the pen management? Batting Yordan for Meyers was... stupid with the Manfraud rule runner still in place. With 2 outs and no one on in the top 9th, if you let Meyers bat:
    A. Meyers gets out, but outfield defense remains elite, and he is your Manfraud runner.
    B. Meyers reaches, Yordan bats for Maldy with a runner on... with Altuve providing protection. Defense only gets a slight downgrade.
In both scenarios, Diaz remains available...

Batting 2nd... Nico Goodrum. 1 for 8... which is still better than Castro.

i honestly don’t even care Siri did well. He is an objectively bad hitter who shouldn’t be in a position to get the most ABs.

What were all the bad bullpen moves this series?

Game #1: the closer gave up a 3-run HR in a save situation.
Game #2: gave up no runs
Game #3: gave up no runs or hits
Game #4: a lesser guy gave up a HR in a situation where none of your top guys were available; and then your guy with an ERA of 0 in 17 innings gave up the game winner.

Seth Martinez over Phil Maton was the questionable move.

Damage already done but I would have let Abreu pitch the 9th and then used Stanek in the 10th.

Abreu only threw 3 pitches to finish the 8th.

I didn't have an issue with Seth in the 10th. He has been money in lesser situations and had earned a chance. But Stanek has been there/done that.

Pitching choices were not the reason they lost.
