I only watched 2 games but Dirden didn’t strike me as a fast runner and I came away thinking he’d be a better fit for LF or RF. He would probably be fine in CF as a backup option but he didn’t look good enough or fast enough to be a good everyday CF option. He only had 10 SB this year.
Nothing on 40 man Roster moves on MLB.com yet. I wonder if they weren't made before yesterday at 11PM or just haven't been reported yet? 21 Pitchers 19 Position Players not including those on 60 IL. I counted them just to be sure. All moves in the last week did not require 40 man Roster adjustment.
He isn’t a burner, he is fast for his size but mostly he positions himself well and reads the ball off the bat well and takes good routes. To be clear he isn’t ever going to be great out there but he can legitimately play CF in the big leagues.
So is Yordan okay…? Why the weird back and forth about 1 hand or both… ****. Just get healthy for the playoffs.
No, he's not ok. Yes- he is still playable but it's a shade of his former self. The Diaz thing has nothing to do with Yordan, it was just time with the call ups, and he was going to have to be put on the 40 at the end of the year, so it didn't matter one way or another if the corresponding move was made now or later. Hopefully they play him a bunch at 1b and occasionally at Catcher to see just how bad a train wreck it is. I doubt either happens with any regularity.
Who the **** is Spencer Strider and why is he an expert on this? If you can't command stuff does not Matter just look at the problems Abreu has had until his command got better or Framber.
The Astros seem OK letting Yordan play through it so they don't think further injury is a risk. Is this the type of thing you might consider giving him the feelgood needle to try and get him through October?
Command isn't just throwing strikes. I think that's part of the difference. Competitive command means competitive balls and strikes. Not meatballs down the middle. It's location both in and out of the strike zone. Different pitches, different speeds and different locations.
That's not possible... half the trade scenarios in the deadline thread had Solomon as a key trade piece bringing back a stud MLB player....
Really surprised Solomon is being DFA. Big stock fall. He looked like a potential MoR last season. His velo was down this season so he could be hurt.
DFA shouldn't mean they are out of the system. They are just now exposed to a rule 5 claim unless they qualify for FA under one of the many rules permitting FA outside of the typical. I know some are signed specifically with FA assured if they don't stick at the MLB level.
