31 years old. He's crushed AAA to the tune of a 1.000 OPS between this year and 2019. He got all of 7 at bats over 6 games with the A's in his first MLB action this year before getting waived. Seems like he can he play 3rd, 2nd, and left.
Hm, interesting. Worried about Bregman obviously but I am hoping they are just taking this guy to see what he has. Has been killing AAA for 2 years now as a 31 year old. Could be a very late bloomer but who knows. Has only 7 AB's in the majors. Maybe keep him on the roster instead of Robel Garcia and see what he can do?
He was on Oakland's 40 man roster. They removed him to put someone else on the 40 man and he has to go through waivers. Same thing we did with Hartman who was picked up by another team. We claimed Wilson and had to put him on our 40 man roster so Ivey was removed from the 40 man by being put on the 60 day IL to make room...
40 man, but not the MLB Active roster if I understand. But with both Brantley and Alvarez nursing non-IL injuries, I suppose he will probably at least show up with the taxi squad,
Can you believe I already forgot Meyers was up? It's not so trouble some now. Meyers, Tucker and Meyers can cover the outfield with Diaz at 3b. But that's a thin bench with Garcia backing up everything except C while Alvarez, Brantley and Bregman recover.
All of the sudden I have visions of McCullers having to move to SS after that story about Correa admiring his throws from short when they were kids. I wonder if a pitcher has ever played at the SS position in a pinch? https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...a-Lance-McCullers-Jr-hope-Astros-16054614.php
Wouldn’t surprise me to see the Tigers make a run at Correa. This end-of-2022 roster seems like it would be pretty good: CF Baddoo LF Grossman 1B Torkelson SS Correa RF Greene 3B Candelario DH Cabrera 2B Goodrum C Rogers Bench: Short, Paredes, Cameron, Haase Rotation: Mize, Skubal, Manning, Boyd, Wentz Bullpen: Soto, Cisnero, Fulmer, Funkhouser, Jiminez, Farmer, Alexander, Faedo
We’ve always know that keeping the team together was going to be a financial impossibility. Watching the Superman effort highlights from Springer makes me miss him here on the Astros…. Springer was such a fun player to root for. Tucker is producing very well and he’s good and much cheaper.
