Well, if we can win 10 in a row. And win every series here on out. I think we will be in a great shape....
Sorry, but I don't see the Astros pulling it out. Their remaining schedule is too tough. If any team is going to pull up from behind and win the wildcard, it will be the Marlins...
The Astros are running out Oswalt, Clemens, and Pettitte this week against Ohka-Bush-Davis. Who's to say that the Astros can't sweep? Clemens went 4-0 (should've been 5-0) in August, and Andy has been pitching well (as he traditionally does) since the ASG. The Big Three can carry this team through the month of September. It's a brutal stretch to be sure, but it's not totally out of the realm of possibility. With 6 games against the Phils and 3 games with the Reds in the month of September, anything is possible. This team is bound to have a hot streak. One good week and you're on top of the WC heap. Believe it again!
houston goes 8-2 in the 10 games against the Cards and the Reds... St. Louis implodes... Cincy takes the Pennant... Astros take the wild card on the last day of the season... it could happen
Well heres one tidbit that will help the "stayin alive" crew. The Astros pretty much have one month left in the season and are 4 games back of the wild card lead. What can happen in a month you say.....2004 Astros, werent they 6 out heading into September? Or what about this season.....How bout them damn Yankees! On July 21st, the Yankees were 3 1/2 games behind the "Sawx" for first place in the AL East after being drubbed in by the Jays, who were only two games behind the Yankees at that time. Exactly a month later, the Yankees lead the Sox by 6 1/2 games for First and the Jays arent even in the picture. Now sure that 5 game sweep sure does help. But, before the Yanks arrived at the Fens for that so-called "showdown," they were up 1 1/2 games on Boston for the disivion lead heading into the 5-gamer. What does this prove? Anything can happen and there still is alot of time, even this late in the season.....
Isn't that the same 3 they ran out there in the Cubs series about a week ago? You know, the series we lost at home....all 3 games? DD
The Padres are down 7-2 in the 8th, while the Reds are down 4-1 in the 6th. If both hold, we're within 3 in the all-important L column. Of course, from there it gets a lot trickier... three teams (Phillies, Padres and Reds if scores hold) would be at 65 losses and two more at 66. So we'd need a lot of help and not just Reds losses. But to even potentially be within 3 games heading into September with this group is completely unreal.
The worm has turned DD. For some reason, the team looks to have found a spark. It could be just a temporary thing, but with Willy igniting the offense and Berkman and Scott being the anchors in the middle of the order, the team has found a third/fourth/fifth wind. It's up to the pitching to stay strong through September. If Jason Hirsch can come through with some solid starts, and Wandy can keep from getting his brains beat in everytime out, this team will be scary good as it heads for home.

Eight in a row and counting for the Marlins.....now if the Astros could do something like that......nah, ain't gonna happen. DD
