This is what will happen. Biggio will do his annual tank job and Burke will be called up to play full time 2B to finish the season out. We all know Bidge will be crumbling into dust soon enough.

You do realize the confict in your statement, don't you? The quicker Biggio gets to 3,000, the better he's doing. If he's doing good, why bench him? It's a lose-lose situation for the Biggio haters. Either he gets 3,000 quickly and solidifies him at 2B even after he's gotten it. Or he sucks and drags it out and stays at 2B because he's still chasing 3,000.

That's laughable. Do you really think that when Burke is standing at the plate he's thinking to himself "Wow, I really misjudged that ball hit to me a couple of innings ago."?

This isn't basketball. When Burke's standing at the plate with a bat on his hand, he might as well be the starting second baseman for all the difference it makes.

The position a player plays on defense does not affect their performance at the plate one iota.

Willy T was a great defensive centerfielder

Well he just needs to continue the current pace, which isn't bad. But with a .252 average and an awful obp he should be benched when he hits 3,000.

I boldly predict that Biggio will start at least half the games after his 3000th hit.

BTW this is totally a Pence for Burke swap. When Jennings comes back, Albers will get sent back and we will have the twelve pitchers we started with.

Send f-ing Ensberg down. The guy is worthless. And no way Biggio is better than Burke.

What has Burke done that makes him so much better than everyone else?

What are his stats that show he is better than everyone else?

He has not played consistently in the majors yet.

I assume you saw my 2nd post 35 minutes earlier than yours. My point is I don't want Biggio to get starts after he craters, which we know will happen if he continues to play on a regular basis. If 3000 is already in the bank, Garner can bench him and put in a better player. I have no problem at all with Biggio starting while he's still productive.

Taveras was not a great centerfielder. He made great improvements between year one and year two and may yet become great but he is not there yet.

From what I have seen Pence has done a reasonable job in center. In addition, Pence already has 3 more extra base hits in half the plate appearances than Taveras.
