 I remember that game as well. Was that the one where Glenn Davis, et. al., slept in the 'Dome and didn't go home before the next [Sunday noon] game ??

    cool, my 12th too..

yeah, that day along with everything I ever read or saw about DK made him one of my favorite players ever...I rooted for him (and Hampton) in Colorado.. and was obviously very sad to hear of his death. I'm sad thinking about it

I have never heard a stadium so electric when Lance Berkman hit the 3 run homer in the 7th inning of Game 5 against the cards in 2005. That was incredible.

I remember a pic in the Chronicle of the Astros' bench, particularly Bagwell's and Biggio's faces, the day DK died. They were all standing during a moment of silence.

The best memories are attending games at the Dome with my dad and his dad. And the hours tossing the ball with each at home.

    1. On Cub Scout Night on April 15, 1968, I got to stay until the 13th inning of the longest game in history. The game went 24 but it was a school night.
    2. Having to wear my free raincoat pancho inside the Dome because the roof leaked and it was raining.
    3. Having to wait for all the cars in the Dome parking lot to leave because my dad took full advantage of nickel beer night and we couldn't find the car.
    4. Nickel beer night...damn...a nickel
    5. Getting to see the original Dome scoreboard go off.

I remember being at the last game EVER at the Dome, Game 5 of the NLDS vs. the Braves. Tony Eusebio hit a home run, and I remember thinking at the time that we had to win if Tony hit one out. Sadly, I was mistaken.

I remember me and my dad had second row seats right behind the dugout to a game against the Marlins. After one inning, Bagwell was running off the field, and tossed a ball right to my dad, who then gave it to me. One of the greatest moments of my life.

I remember I went to a game against the Expos when I was really young, before I followed baseball, and I thought that Expos was such a stupid name.

I remember Orlando Miller hit a walk-off home run in the first game I ever attended after I started following baseball. It was a great start.

I remember thinking that I was some sort of good luck charm for the Astros. They won something like the first 9 or 10 games I ever attended.

I remember spending the night at my cousin's house in 1998, and waking up to see a giant picture of Randy Johnson on the front page of the Chronicle. I damn near peed my 10 year old pants out of excitement.

I remember how the whole city fell in love with Carlos Beltran, and then just as quickly turned on him (deservedly so... greedy b*stard).

I remember my dad texting me during Yom Kippur services, updating me on the score of the Astros-Cardinals series. And then later in the week listening to the radio backstage of a play that I was in. Having my favorite team go to the world series my senior year of high school was one memory I will never, ever forget.

I remember the absolute complete elation I felt after Berkman's HR in Game 5 against the Cards in '05. Followed by the crushing blow by Pujols. My mom later told me that she came and checked on me multiple times during the night... she was actually concerned that I would kill myself by how depressed I became. Thanks Albert.

I remember thinking I was the luckiest man alive to get to see my favorite player get his 3000th hit in person. Having that happen, plus Carlos Lee's walkoff grand slam... easily the best sporting event I have ever attended.

I don't think I will ever love anything as much as I love this team. From Mike Cangelosi to Wesley Wright, they have been a part of my life for the last 12 years, and I will support them until the day I die. Go 'Stros!

oh right, let me add this one..

Great times sneaking a walkman into school to hear the daytime playoff games in the late 90's. There were moments when my head would be down, against a pair of earphones that I broke (just the plastic part) so that I could keep one earpiece hidden against my head behind my hand.

And other days when I'd go to the bathroom twice in an hour, each time staying in the halls for about 15 minutes listening..

One of those was the 2-1 loss where DK pitched a 2-hitter.. sad, but great memory still.

(Baseballa, you meant *John* Cangelosi.. not to be an ass, cause I'm sure he didn't even come to a lot of people's minds.. but just to be correct!)

My Orlando Miller memory comes from the only time we had dugout seats. Orlando Miller, as we'll all recall, was one of many in a line of piece of (poop) shortstops after the great Thon/Reynolds tandem.

Miller struck out (again), and I do believe had dropped an easy shallow pop earlier that game, and upon returning to the dugout was being mercilessly though derservedly heckled by the fans. He looked up, piece of crap that he was, and shouted, "F*** YOU" to all of us. We had our 8-year-old niece with us. Nice.

He couldn't hit, he couldn't catch, and he couldn't throw. How he ever drew a paycheck was beyond me.

I remember it seemed Craig Reynolds could barely hit against the league then he would always pound the Br*ves. Sweet.

Ahh the unexpectedness of the 6 pitcher no hitter in Yankee Stadium
Also one vivid memory that I can never forget is how bad Tony Eusebio was lol, he was like the Ryan Bowen of the Astros

Wow.. that quote just reminded me of Tony's ridiculous hitting streak in 2000. Something like 24 games in 50 days, IIRC. He became my temporary favorite player for that little while... that was fun to watch.

Like so many others, so many great memories in the ol' noggin.

Calling my mom and sister when we traded for Big Unit.

Lidge getting a little too excited, "That was F***ing huge"

Billy Hatcher being my favorite player growing up

Eric Anthony hitting that ridiculous bomb in the dome

The "Young Guns" Chronicle poster (I think it was Yelding, Biggio, Caminiti, maybe one more?)

Being angry that Furcal was ROY when I though Melusky deserved it (how foolish I was...)

Billy Spiers, the most un-appreciated Astro ever

Bob Knepper and his inability to ever have two consecutive good years

Jim Clancy and that horrible horrible start against the Reds when he gave up approximately 400 runs in the first inning

and now I'm babbling, but thanks to all for posting their memories, fun to either relieve my own memories and to just re-imagine what I've read about so many times.

speaking of Cangelosi, does anyone remember him "spearing" Jeff Juden in a 1996 game at Montreal that had both teams clear the benches? I mean, Cangelosi had to have been 5'5" and he just decked a guy that weighed 150 pounds more and was 6' freaking 8". Coolest moment ever.

I remember.. game 1 vs Maddux.... Kile pitched a gem that day too... I think that's the game where Ausmus hit a HR and double, the HR to tie the game? Or was that game 2? I remember Glavine dominating us... I believe 3-0 so I doubt it was game 2.

Cangelosi... #27, was one of my favorite players while he was here. They went on and on about his patience at the plate and he goes hard after every fly ball.

I faintly remember taunting David Weathers from the 3rd base line in the Dome while he was warming up for the Brewers. I remember that he threw a wild pitch to catcher during warmups and the ball trickled into the field (seems ridiculous how the Dome bullpens are right there with no fences. The game stopped for a few seconds to retrieve the ball and Weathers gave us a dirty look.
