All those video clips they provide ... you can pretty watch every play of every NBA game. I love it.

What I meant is, when it comes to evaluating players, all that Moneyball and stat analysis is fine but I wonder if he'll rely on those aspects too much instead of going with a gut feeling about a player.

I went as well and said hello to DM after the lecture. We kept getting interupted, so I got kind of pissed. Anyway, nice lecture and we shall see how things go.

I would prefer he makes his decisions based on thoughts and not "feelings".

He did address that somewhat. He said that you try to weight your statistics according to their reliability. So, for a high school player, statistics should be a small factor in your decision-making because high school stats are not very indicative of NBA success. Likewise, he mentioned he thought lockerroom leadership was very important but admitted that it is neigh impossible to quantify (he mentioned they've done some things to try, but did not seem very satisfied with those). So, obviously, he wants to get leadership, but knows he can't find it with stats.

    Duh. Hayes.

wait a sec, if he fouls out in 20 minutes, that means he grabbed 12 rebounds in 20 minutes

ANYBODY BUT JUWAN IS WHO. Rybo would have been better. At least Bowen can move around and face guard somebody.

Juwan's +/- numbers in combination with Yao were the worst on the team of any player that got any sort of substantial minutes. I'm not talking about the fact that his numbers were bad. I'm talking about the fact that when he was on the court with Yao, it was an automatic 10 point deficit, where every other player on the court had positive numbers with Yao.

We could have run Lil Chuckie out there for 20, given Stromile Swift 20, and then given Rybo 5 and let Juwan play most of his minutes backing up Yao at the 5. We would have been better off. Stro's value would have been higher and the bottom line is, we would have won more games.

Juwan on the floor with Yao is TERRIBLE. He's a great guy but at this stage of his career he has no business playing the PF alongside Yao for 5 mpg much less 30. He's too slow, too slow. He clogs up the floor. And when that jumper is clanging instead of draining, it simply ignites the opponent's fast break and they run us out the gym.

Juwan simply CANNOT be on the floor beside Yao for 30 minutes a night and us expect to contend.

The stat I like is called the final score.

Keep Yao and Tracy healthy through the playoffs and everyone will look like a genius. :)
