LAW & ORDER! BACK THE BLUE! BUILD THE WALL! DEPORT THESE ALIENS! 51-year-old Elmer Manzano Manzano is an El Salvador national who was illegally in the U.S. Manzano was charged in 2002 with felony evading of police. Manzano pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 120 days in jail. Manzano did not serve his sentence in state prison which is normally the case. Also sentenced and probated for two misdemeanor assault charges in Dallas County from 2000 Officers had visited the residence where the shooting occurred as recently as this past Sunday Officials heard of an incident involving Manzano on Saturday, when his partner went to the southwest station and reported a domestic disturbance, Acevedo said. An HPD offense report shows that on Sunday, police responded to a disturbance call at the apartment, where Manzano and his ex-wife were living. She told police the two were living together but going through a divorce. Manzano had arrived home around 3 a.m., then woken up at 7 a.m. wanting to take one of their younger sons to McDonalds to eat breakfast. She said she refused, and that Manzano brandished his weapon at her and their children, and threatened her with deportation. A criminal background check came back "clear," according to the report, and the officer spoke to a prosecutor who didn't accept charges, based on the officer's findings. In his report, the officer wrote, “No crime occurred.” ... Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Manzano had a lengthy, violent criminal history. As recently as this weekend, Houston police said Manzano's estranged wife made two family violence reports. In one of them filed Sunday, she told police her “ex-husband was walking around with a gun” and she was “in fear of her life” because “she didn’t know what her ex-husband will do to her.” The responding officer didn't find a weapon but did find six bullets in his pocket, according to HPD. In the report, the officer wrote that no crime occurred, there were no threats and no assault. The Harris County District Attorney's Office declined charges. The officer who wrote the report was Courtney Waller, who police said was one of the officers shot by Manzano on Tuesday morning. In October 1994, Manzano was arrested for the unlawful carrying of a firearm in Dallas County. That case was dismissed after a year of deferred adjudication, according to Dallas County court records. In August 2000, Manzano was arrested for assault in Dallas County. He agreed to a plea of one-year probation in the case. His probation was later revoked and he was sentenced to 6 months in jail, according to Dallas County court records. In December 2000, Manzano was again arrested in Dallas County for assault. He agreed to a plea of one year of probation in the case. His probation was later revoked and he was sentenced to six months in jail, according to Dallas County court records. In May 2001, Manzano was yet again arrested in Dallas County for felony assault causing bodily injury to a family member. The charge was dismissed after two years of deferred adjudication, according to Dallas County court records. In December 2002, Manzano pleaded guilty to evading arrest with a motor vehicle in Harris County. He was sentenced to 120 days in jail, according to court records. In 2004, in Harris County, a judge issued a protective order against Manzano, but there have been no court records of crimes or domestic issues since then. RIP Harold Preston; Get well Courtney Waller.
