well that makes me feel better. his game looks good and he seems smart so it doesn't seem like he would have trouble molding himself into a more versatile player. i really like this draft.

Hollinger has Donte Greene rated very highly in his forecast. I believe he was 2nd on the guard list. So I see where Morey is coming from.

then he'll fit right in :p

What I love about this trade is that we don't have to pay a guy first round money for two years guaranteed and have to wait on him to develop.

We were all complaining about last year's draft and Morey did a good job

    I've got faith

We may be trading away Hayes. Hell, Dorsey is like a bigger more athletic Hayes anyway.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I loved this draft......when you are picking that low, you have to pick for the future.

He is 19 years old with massive upside, let him play all year in the NBDL.....why not?

good draft for the position we were in. I dont know what yall expected out of a 25 pick morey did a good job. we need a wing scorer probably get it through free agency or trade but we got a high potential player in greene and now we can get rid of chuck hayes from the van gundy days and get an upgrade in dorsey. not a big splash but take a step at a time and we'll be fine

Dorsey is Chuck Hayes with Mike Harris finishing and Kirk Snyder athleticism.

Not into low effort guys who dont maximize their potential so I'm not that sold on Donte Greene. For now he's a serviceable Novak replacement.

I think Novak is more NBA ready right now than Greene, IMHO, Novak stays, unless we sign someone like Boki....and Greene goes to the NBDL.

You admitted your Greene is assessment is based off watching one game last year, and reading a few scouting reports. "That's just DD being DD". Greene will be a significant contributor this season - I wanted either Batum or Greene at 25. We ended up getting Greene for cheaper, and picking up a bruising PF as well. Good trade, even though I like Batum's potential. I think Greene can fill a JR Smith role for the Rockets this year.

I'm on board with picking up Gerald Green for a backup SG as well - I think that would really solidify our rotation.

    Alston/Francis/Brooks
    Battier/Green/Greene/Head
    McGrady/Greene/Green/Novak
    Scola/Landry/Dorsey/Hayes
    Yao/Mutumbo/Dorsey/Hayes

That team is probably the most athletic team we've had in a long time. Will this appease GATER? Probably not, since Morey is still the GM. But I can see Greene getting out in the open court and causing problems. I can't wait to see these guys in the summer league.

He is 6-7 but he will be listed as 6-9 in the NBA, they love to change the real size.

    Aaron Brooks 6'0
    Chuck Hayes 6'6
Even Maxiell is 6'6 and he is listed as 6'7

NBA always buff the real size of players, so he will be 6-9 by NBA standard.

I could care less about rookies. I want a championship and i highly doubt that the draft is going to hold that key piece. Honestly make a major trade morey i am really fed up with this cast

So we come in with picks at 25 & 54, and leave with a guy who was projected in the lottery a few weeks ago and a potential legitimate defensive stopper (plus apparantly a pick for next year), and people are complaining?!?

I don't know much about Greene, other than the Youtube clips, but he seems like a scoring wingman type player, which pretty much everyone agreed we needed. There had to be a reason he was projected at one point to go very high, so let's hope he brings that game to Houston.

Dorsey, on the other hand, I have seen play. All I know is that every time I watched Memphis play, Dorsey was a force under the basket. He is a physical beast. Blocked shots, rebounds, hard fouls... intensity. He has all the traits that we want to see in Yao. When my beloved Longhorns played against him, his presense alone under the basket changed a ton of shots. When I saw that he was 6'7" I was shocked because he plays like someone much closer to 7'.

Look, neither of these guys are sure bets, but even if they don't pan out, it's not like we wasted lottery picks on them or anything. I have faith in Morey however, and I am going to sleep tonight very pleased with his job this draft.

Don't forget Dorsey - if he sees time on the court he'll get out there and run the floor (it'll be the only way he ever scores a basket)

Clutch just confirmed in the chat that nothing is expected of Greene this year, and that he is a pick for the future.

You don't expect a 19 year old to come in and take over for Tmad and Battier...

I think Greene will probably take a month-two months in the NBDL, then they'll call him back up. There he'll probably get some blow out time where he can prove himself, ala Carl Landry at that Minnesota game. Then progress his way toward getting more and more time for the future.
