At some point people will learn to just do what cops tell them to. It's a common thread in every single video people post. That said, he was too rough with the kid and shouldn't be working at a school.
A lot of the misunderstandings could be reduced if there was like a national guideline or youtube videos released by law enforcement demonstrating what are proper techniques used when arresting someone.
God Damn... That kid better have raped someone or had a hostage in a box hidden somewhere and was in imminent danger.
To avoid the officer having to use borderline unnecessarily high levels of force, the school should have had two officers, one on each side of the student, for everyone's safety. One officer is still in a dangerous and vulnerable situation should the teen decide to attack him (knife, eye gouge, grabbing the officer's weapons, etc.) while he is trying to get the teen out of the chair, so that might make him want to take him down as quickly as possible for his own safety, leading to possibly too much force being used. Not only would two officers assure the officers' safety, but they could probably just pick up the student and carry him out without risking injury to the student.
Another common thread is you admitting to the officer's wrongdoing, but qualifying it with the idea that if he were dealing with adults instead of teenagers, his behavior would be acceptable. "Yeah, this officer flew off the handle, but if the person had just obeyed the instructions of this unstable individual, they wouldn't have been subjected to his fit of rage. And to prove that I'm not totally unreasonable, I at least agree that he shouldn't be allowed to beat up children."
if another person is in danger due to the action of the kid in question, yes, that force is justified. but if the kid was not simply listening to instructions, expel the baytch.
From what is shown, it appears that that particular officer has not business being employed by a police department.
He shouldn't be a cop anywhere he out weighed this little girl by at lease 60lbs it didn't that the force that he used to get her to comply.
but but but the kid didn't immediately comply so the cop should be able to use whatever force he deems necessary. I swear people make the lamest excuses for police behavior. It is like a cop is a caged animal that can be legally unleashed the second someone is deemed not compliant and whatever force the cop uses is the citizen's fault. The police should be using the minimum amount of force necessary to do their job safely, especially in a situation like this. There was ABSOLUTELY no need for this escalation and level of force. This cop is a violent thug and needs to be fired and charged with assault.
Would have made for a funnier video if he had just handcuffed her to the desk and then carried her AND the desk out of the school. Then unhandcuffed her.
You can see by the body language of the other students how inspired they were to see justice in action.
He has a history of this type of behavior. Outweighs the girl by at least 150lbs and can bench 600lbs. Violent thug who needs to lose his job and go to jail.
This is a teenage girl that he is doing this to. Think of the teenage girl in your life that you are closest to -- your daughter, sister, cousin, etc -- now try to imagine a situation where you think our society should permit them being treated this way by a large man. Now realize that the teenage girl in this video was treated this way for sitting there and not obeying directives. Also, we need to get serious about mental health in this country. This girl obviously has issues. Instead of calling cops to man handle her and putting people like her into the criminal justice system, that cop should have come with a counselor with experience in children's mental health, and she should be offered resources to get the help she needs. Some of you may be interested in this infographic about police brutality and militarization: http://i1.wp.com/www.criminaljusticedegreehub.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/US-police.jpg The entire police system is filled with idiot thugs like this cop. Over a thousand people are getting killed by cops per year. I am personally ready to and am trying to convince others to get into a mindset of arming themselves and not allowing police into their communities any longer. Nothing else seems to work. The system refuses to reform itself. Body cameras just mean we get multiple views of cops killing people and getting away with it. As that infographic points out, this nation was founded on ideals and by people who would not abide this kind of treatment by government. That people in this country defend thugs like the cop in this video sickens me. If you want your community to be a police state, fine -- but those who don't need to start taking radical actions since all legal and peaceful means are not working.
I was a "lib" forever, but I am changing to a revolutionary, in the spirit of our forefathers who wrote the Constitution. Why should jackballs like this guy have all the guns? The American people rule! Government forces are paid by us and serve us, not rule us.
I can agree with you on most of what you stated. This isn't the first time he has been accused of excessive force.
