It's better that he's kept alive so that you can have an active example of what Democratic Socialism does to a country. It seems some people forget.
LOL Believes Democratic Socialism is literally evil that causes suffering and deaths... also... Believes that an entire country should suffer through it just for an example... You're such a sweet guy!
No, it's not "literally evil", it's just an economic system that always leads to extreme poverty, starvation, and death. History has proven that it is arguably the worst system possible if the goal is for your people to thrive rather than starve. You could argue that those who push for a system that will lead to extreme poverty, starvation, and mass death are "evil", but the system isn't "evil". As to the people of Venezuela continuing to suffer....I mean, they voted for this. They were a thriving capitalist nation that decided to go socialist and starve. No one forced it on them. If their foolish actions help remind the rest of the world why any kind of Socialism, even Democratic Socialism like they have is a really, really bad idea, then that's a good thing.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caracas_helicopter_incident If they can do that, they can probably get their hands on some rich kid's DJI.
No, not "liberals", leftists. Socialists are not "liberal", they do not believe in liberal ideas. Liberals are seen as crazy right wingers to socialists.
It isn't because of socialism, can you name the socialist policies currently going on in Venezuela? Yes, so that's evil. I think what is pretty close to being evil is thinking what you think above but still wishing it upon people just so you could incorrectly call it democratic socialism in forum debates. That's pretty messed up. That's like me hoping that Putin would genocide a bunch of people just so I can go "See, unchecked capitalism folks!" No, no they did not.
Lol how is Venezuela not Democratic socialism? They democratically elected a socialist who switched the country from a capitalist system to a socialist system....just because it ended up the way every socialist system ends up instead of your workers paradise fantasy changes nothing
you didn't answer my question, but ill answer yours. State owned oil and gas (PDVSA). Single Payer health care. massive currency controls. private property expropriated by the government. Almost zero property rights. Government run companies. State run Steel, Aluminum, and Iron industries (Sidor, Venalum , Ferrominera ). State run agriculture
Canada also has single payer health care. State Owned oil is not even that uncommon? Venezuela actually has property rights, but the authoritarians strip them away. That's an authoritarian problem. The issue is, other countries have policies like this and haven't failed, therefore, I can't say these policies are the reason Venezuela is the way it is. It's probably because when you have an authoritarian leader it better be a good one, a smart one, like Jinping or even I, loathe to say it, Putin. The issue is if you get a bad one then you are stuck with them.
I didn't like Chavez one bit so I definitely dislike Maduro even more. If the rebels did it on their own, good for them that's what it's all about. Any one that wants to take your Social security away and empty the country's resources and use it to fatten their own pockets should all pay the consequences. LEFT OR RIGHT. Though, they shouldn't have done it in a packed event with civilians. Isolate Maduro. Maduro has already said on his version of 'fox &friends' that comrade putin and china will be sending helicopters and a ship. I used to think these "democratically elected" presidentes created the assassinations attempts in their heads but by the reactions that looked legit.
and that's a socialist policy. no and its a socialist policy. so they don't have property rights. in fact they have the worst property rights in the world (heritage foundation). that's a socialist policy. I don;t know what the hell you think socialism is, but maybe you need a refresher. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism The Venezuelan government is the biggest producer in oil, gas, steel, aluminum, iron, agriculture, and just about everything else in the country. They run all of the markets. What the hell do you call that? capitalism? Whats a 'bad' one do? what has Chavez and Maduro done that makes them 'bad'? implement socialism?
And Canada is doing alright. And those countries are also doing alright. They do, it's just that the dictator decides who has them or not. Why do you think my argument is about what is or isn't socialism? You're naming socialist policies that work elsewhere but implying that Venezuela is failing because of these policies...yet other countries are not? That probably means the reason Venezuela is failing is not because of its socialist policies then... A bad one doesn't understand the economy and thus bankrupts the country. Good as in intellectually capable of understanding how an economy works, knowing their limits, etc...not morally good or bad. First thing first, to me, all authoritarians are bad. You don't want your government ruled by one person for too long because you are beholden to the biases of that one person...and I think even if some of them start off with good pure intentions they eventually always have their biases magnified... But if your argument is that socialism is bad for a country, well, it's just a bad argument because these policies succeed elsewhere.
Because you asked me to name venezuala's socialist policies. Now your story changes to ' yea venezuala is socialist but that's not why it sucks'. And none of these policies work anywhere. Not single payer. Not state run industries. Not lack of property rights. Btw, venezualans have zero property rights. If your rights only exist on paper than you have no rights. They dont even exist on paper though. Like every socialist country. The mental gymanstics that socialists do on venezuala is astounding.
