Buck up little campers, if Andre' recruits him to be the AJ of the defense and convinces him this is an up an coming place to be, it could happen. Just not anytime soon. Off season sports and trade deadlines are all about hope.
can someone email this thread to McNair? maybe he'll see how much we despise and question their dedication to actually putting a winning product on the field.
This will accomplish nothing. McNair does not care for your opinion. He said this is not a poll, not a survey, not a popularity contest. If it was, Reggie Bush would here. *[and Kubiak wouldn't] *Ok, I inserted that last part about Kubiak
Spot on article today by Raiders beat writer Jerry McDonald on the Asomugha situation. His ludicrous contract was a bad situation waiting to happen.
McDonald also speculating that the Jets are probably Asomugha's #1 option. Listed to the Texans as the team in desperate need of a corner and therefore the likeliest to offer big money, but again... he doesn't know Uncle Bob.
That's interesting that he hasn't had but 2 picks in 3 years. I know his area doesn't get thrown too very often, but that's a pretty small number.
He got thrown at 33 times this year. 33. That's 2.35 times per game (he played 14 games). The chances of coming up with a pick from that are pretty damned small.
McDonald doesn't know football then. I've learned by reading Clutchfans that good teams don't go after players in free agency and that because of a salary cap teams can't just sign multiple players to big deals. Duh, the Jets are a good team so they won't sign him, they'd rather build through the draft, and since they have a lot of good players they can't possibly work the salary cap in a creative way to add a player of his caliber. LOL, silly McDonald.
The return on CBs isn't usually a great value...but he literally shuts down one side of the field. You free up the safeties, are more free to blitz, etc. I'd still chase him. But we all know who won't.
Asomugha probably doesn't pay his full tax burden anyway. Can't have such a low character guy messing up what we've got going here. He probably also likes his women to show cleavage. I mean CLEAVAGE! of all things.
According to Wikipedia. Asomugha was selected as the Raiders Team Captain for the 2007 season. Opposing quarterbacks tested him only 31 times with a mere 10 completions the entire season. Asomugha was again selected a team captain before the 2008 season. Opposing quarterbacks tested him only 27 times the entire season resulting in just 8 completions. A team captain again in 2009 and the NFL's least targeted cornerback by an extremely wide margin, Asomugha was challenged by opposing quarterbacks only 27 times and allowed 13 completions the entire season. that is 1.9 passes to his side of the field per game over a 4 year period. that. is. insane.
That is ridiculous. The one downside of signing him would be how badly it would expose whoever else was on the field with him.
He's basically like Deion was in the 90s. Teams just don't even bother throwing at him. At the same time, the Raiders bread and butter has always been man coverage and Nnamdi has at times said it would be nice to see them implement some more packages that have him shadowing a target rather than locking down one side of the field. The Jets speculation is the connection between Rob Ryan, who used to be the Raiders DC. Again, all of this really is moot until the new CBA gets hashed out. If it does.
Right. Even though the Jets will probably not have the room to sign any big name FAs, especially one like Nnamdi. I can imagine that team has quite the payroll.
