This is the moment Uncle Bob could make everything okay, all the crap we have spun at him could be put to rest. Ike Taylor would be nice, Champ Bailey would be great but NA would be the turning point for this franchise.

Champ wants to play safety now, to prolong his career/productivity, get them both... Bob.

This, so much this. Revis showed what a shut down corner can do against Manning last night. Reggie Wayne had 1 catch for 1 yard.

Acquiring Asomugha will not be just about money, IMO. The guy has had most of his career sucked away by the Raiders and will likely be looking for a winning situation. That is what I think the Texans have to sell, that they will win with him, not size of his check.

He will get paid at a certain level by someone. He will have his pick of teams. The best the Texans can do is offer the big money, like they just did with Andre Johnson, and make a good sales pitch. The rest is up to Asomugha.

If he chooses the Texans, though... wow.

Atlanta gave Dunta that contract last year.

Wish we had not signed him and tried to make a run at Asomugha this off-season.

Please Bob, I will forgive and forget if you make this happen.

Asomugha is a great guy. From what I've seen of him, he's like Andre Johnson except he shows much more personality and is very articulate. Fans will love him.

In other words, he's a Bob McNair type of player who will be a credit on and off the field.

Here we go with this "winning situation" myth.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that this is the NFL we're talking about? This is not the NBA where leechers are more frequent than an Avatar torrent download.

Not even CLOSE... Dunta is at best an average corner now. Asomugha is a top 2 corner in the NFL (I think as good as Revis). The Texans need to do everything possible to sign him. He will solve literally half of their secondary issues.

Champ would be nice, but not like Asomugha and not realistic to think we can get both.

Asomugha would literally add 2-3 wins to the Texans

   What's not even close? I'm clearly saying as an Atlanta fan I wish we had not signed Dunta and went after Asomugha.

I think you misinterpreted Shaud post. He wasn't claiming Dunta was as good as Aso.

This is why I'm ok with letting Dunta walk.

I'm assuming that the Texans' thinking was they could ante up on a corner eventually. It could be another reason we didn't want to pay Bodden.

Needless to say that this would be an incredible signing for the Texans. I'm not getting my hopes up high but this might make it easier for us to sign another CB..saturate the market and make it easier for us to sign a player like Ike Taylor.

One can only hope that we go after a top-notch corner and draft a defensive tackle with the 11th pick.'

The myth is that all players think the same and that they all go to the highest bidder. This is why folks don't understand how a player voids a record breaking contract or why a consensus #1 pick forgoes the draft and stays in college for his senior year. Money is an important factor, and should be, but it isn't the only one.

I intend to state that players care about money and more. I expect Asomugha to try to get both the money and the wins. When the money is equal how does he decide on a team? If the Texans offer the same money as the Ravens or Patriots or Bears or Saints, how does he choose a team? Will an extra dollar or extra million get him on the Panthers or get him to stick with the Raiders, who were already paying him QB money?

I assume Asomugha will get the big money. I know of no NFL player who played for vet minimum to play for a winner and did not suggest any would. Neither did I suggest he would take significantly less to play for a winner. The damage these guys take to their bodies dictates they try to maximize their compensation. My question is how does he choose whose big money to take? No myth required. The Texans better come with more than a big check.

Guys, it takes two to tango. Asomugha has to show mutual interest - if you think the Texans will be his most viable football suitor, you're insane.

That is why I said, "It's not always about money".

Exactly. Why would he want to come play for this franchise if he could go to a winner. If I were Asomugha, the Texans definitely wouldn't be high on my list.

If you think the Redskins were the "most viable football suitor" for several of the big-ticket free agents they signed, you're also insane. It's about the $.
