So Nnamdi is a factor in 40-50% of defensive plays. He's THE factor. Where is a team that can't use their superstar first option at all when they decide to pass?

If teams pass to score and run to win, where are they if can't score? Granted the run D here is still a hole, but to take away over the top, big yardage gains is crucial and unseen in this franchise's history.

You are grossly overstating the impact of a CB it's not even funny.

To put it simply. there's only 1 RB(and 1% fullback for special occasions). If you run with the football, you run with that one back behind your QB.

But it's different with passing. There are almost always 3-5 potential receivers on any given pass play. And Asomugha only covers one. And given that offenses today like to move around their receivers to get them open, Asomugha does not always cover the opponent's best receiver.

So in the end, having a super CB just means you're taking away ~25% of opponent's passing potential. It's amazing to be sure. But in the grand scheme of things, teams can easily adjust and just ignore you. i.e. by running more, move their best WR around, going more to TEs, 2nd WRs, etc. He hinders an offense. But he doesn't demolish it.

And he was paid like 13% of Raiders salary cap... given that an NFL team has 53 players.

As a defender, if you force the offense to simply ignore you then you've won the battle without even trying. That's a huge accomplishment. A franchise CB's worth is monumental, why do you think they get paid so much?

Actually it's not like there's a shortage of athletes(of African descent) with African names. In the NFL, NBA, even in the NHL.

Also keep in mind the first three are all from the same country, not much diversity there.

How is "Hakeem" an African name? That's Arabic.

His name was "Akeem"; as I understand it he added the initial "h" upon converting to Islam.

I'd trade down for Paea, but he's Tongan. He's gonna dominate the bench press at the combine, and that strength will impact immediately while he learns technique from the guy who made Ratliff a pro bowler.

Islam is the largest religion in Africa, especially in the northern countries. It's not surprising that a Muslim family would give their children Muslim names.

Erm, Olajuwon isn't an Islamic last name but rather a Nigerian last name.
