Well Omer had more room to improve since he didn't play that many minutes. He doubled his minutes. I voted Asik
Harden was one of the top shooting guards last year. Everyone knew his name. Other than hardcore fans, Omer was virtually unknown outside of Chicago. You got to give most improved to Omer. You consider James for MVP.
I voted for Asik simply because Harden has the advantage of playing with his beard! Spoiler ........... ........... ...........
Agreed. I really don't care who wins it, I just think to go from a player off the bench, similar to what JR Smith is doing in NY or Jamal Crawford is doing with the Clippers to All Star and carrying a team is BIG! It's never been done before, ever! I can go up and down the line with players who have done what Omer is doing. That's all I'm saying.
I kinda feel like that award is cursed but if I must choose then I choose Parsons or Asik. Asik was butterfingers at the start of the season.
Royce White anyone? He went from stealing laptops from a college to stealing millions from an NBA franchise! Limitless ceiling.. Back to basketball.. Omer Asik is your MIP. Asik was reffered to "stone hands" at the beginning of the season. Showed everyone wrong by avering a double double. In the mean time Harden was always a beast, just overshadowed. Here he became the No.1 option and didn't improve but instead shined.
nah, he changed a lot as a player. Last year, he was just a good man defender on smaller players and he could shoot on offense and pass a bit. Compared to last year, he has become one of the best / smartest help defenders, he improved his dribble a lot and he added a bunch of offensive moves from eurostep to various crossovers and fadeaways. Anyway, i'm going to pick Larry Sanders and Jrue Holiday before George.
But if i had to pick a Rocket, i'd pick Parsons. I guess he's less intense defensively but he's added a legit shot. Harden/Asik improvement seems to be more about getting an opportunity.
Harden went from being the best sixth man to a candidate for MVP. He is carrying a team full of rookies to the playoffs. He is associated with Kobe and Wade after being in Ben Gordon and Jason Terry category. Asik went from a bench player to playing solid minutes, playing great defense, and collecting rebounds. He is on par with several of the better centers in the NBA. The award isn't for who is having the most surprising season, but most improved. The jump Asik made is comparable to several players in the NBA. This board has the vote 3-1 Asik right now is an embarrassment to James Harden.
I'm thinking the same thing. It's going to be close between those 2, but I would consider Grievis Vasquez before George, too.
I'd say Omer. Harden has proven he can play, score, and has been playing a lot of minutes already coming off the bench when he was at OKC.
