Bicycle comment aside, I was wondering if putting Asik in the lineup this soon after his first practice has a bearing on what kind of shape he is in.

If he were in terrible shape, I.E. hasnt worked out at all in 2 months, then working out would presumably come before actual game time.

this article was when jones started breaking out with asik out.

"Asik has missed four games with a bruised right thigh and will be out Friday against the Warriors. He is doubtful to play Sunday in Sacramento, but has stepped up his on-court rehab. Asik had fluid drained from his knee last week with the swelling going down markedly in the past few days."

I don't think he did that.

    2-7-14 @jennydialcreech (Houston Chronicle)

Coach McHale: "I would think Omer is going to play tomorrow. Now granted, this is the most he has done and if his knee swells up again, he won’t play tomorrow night, but if he can come through tonight and tomorrow’s shoot around, I think he will play."

Here are some of the reports on Asik's injury for those who missed them:

    December 26th:

Followed by this report from January 6th:

I wasn't able to find any reports about him getting it drained more than once though, which was back at the start of December. At any rate all that matters now is that he comes back and plays hard as long as he is a part of the team.

A good friend of mine managed to dive head first into a submerged rock at Pale Face Park on Lake Travis years ago. We drove him to a hospital, where he got sewed up, some antibiotics were tossed at him, and he recovered in our home (he's a Texan who (was) married to various Canadian chicks and lives in BC). Why mention him? His wound, in his scalp, but close to the beginning of his forehead, swelled like crazy. Over time, the swelling moved down into his face, and even towards his throat, which freaked him out, and got him another hospital visit. I'm not a doctor, but I've seen severe swelling move to another part of the anatomy, at least in this case. Maybe something similar happened to Asik?

    Very possible.

The question would be, why would be at Pale Face Park on Lake Travis instead of in the practice facility here in Houston?

Not sure if this question has been posted before.

Do you guys think he is going to play to show other teams he could play? Aka... a trade coming?

Well color me shocked. Asik wasn't faking like 90% of you said he was.

Why do people always jump immediately to the conspiracy theory?

    I remember that.

In Assik's situation, the Rockets should have suspended him without pay for those 2 games he missed without any justification. Not siding with any corporate entity but you do not let the inmates run the asylum.

At any event, it is water under the bridge. Hopefully we can get something decent for the quitter, erh.. Assick.

I was angry at him for being a whiny baby early on but was surprised at the negativity of people on here about his injury.

Really excited. The Blazers lost again, if Asik can come in and play hard (sell him on how it will mean he is more likely to get a starting job when traded by playing well) the second seed is not out of reach. If he can sure up the bench defense and this teams goes on a run we can shoot up the standings.

Stop defending a quitter, and yes, I am very proud of myself because I know I am not one.
