Maybe not ESPN, it's supposedly Bleacher Report that had an Agenda against Lin and the ROckets from the very beginning. ESPN got this from BR.
Keep Asik at all costs. The tension is good as that lets us know Omer is competitive. Let it be up to McHale to make it work. San Antonio uses a big 4-5 combo and I like doing the same.
yeah but SA's bigs can shoot outside the paint, whereast both howard and asik got no outside game whatsoever.
The only person at all who keeps spreading the lie that Asik is "unhappy" or "formally requesting a trade" (in a tuxedo or what?) is Brian Windhorst from ESPN. It's completely made up. Nothing to see here at all. It's simply not true. Asik would not act like this. Windhorst is lying. No reputable journalist has confirmed any of this, but Windhorst made two articles out of it. Windhorst is also the same guy who kept pushing the rumor (together with Marc Stein) that Howard is leaning towards Golden State, which didn't make any sense whatsoever.
sure hope you're right and that all of the big sports websites are only using it to jack up their hot counts because the Howard story is so huge
I dont know, Kevin Mchale is a no nonsense guy, If he knew Asik was cool, he wouldnt of said what he said in that interview. If he didnt know that Asik was upset, he wouldnt have said what he said in that interview
If it was fake I'm pretty sure Asik would of said something tho. I don't blame Asik for saying that stuff if it's true
any chance dirk forces a trade too? would you package asik, lin, and parsons for dirk? i know the mavs just signed a PG but the main piece in the trade is parsons and asik. lin just to match salaries its a tough choice, but if i was the GM of the rockets. i think i would do it. the window to win a championship is short
Agreed, and even Splitter has a very good floater that gives him a little more range. Dwight has no range at all while the only ranged weapon Asik has is the jumper from the right side of the FT line.
a) cuban doesn't do this just based on legacy alone. dirk as a mav is like duncan as a spur: they just won't even consider it. b) his decline is noticeable and while we upgraded with dwight we're still a little bit of a ways off from being perennial contenders. Youth across the board is the goal. c) those 3 talents I'd hope could net a lot more than a past-prime dirk.
Yea, I'm not buying it. I want to keep Asik. I don't believe LMA or Love is on the block [yet] so unless there was a clear upgrade, I like what Asik brings playing starter minutes in a bench role.
You only mention offense...there are 3 phases to consider (offense, defense, transition): -On defense we'll have an advantage against certain offensive strategies. What will be hard is guarding the 3pt line for certain lineups. -In transition, we'll have great defensive rebounding as well as stops to fuel the fast break. -Offense: On post-up sets-- D12 is posting up while Asik is there for rebounding. If Asik's man shades towards Howard, Asik will have even better rebounding position. If he leaves Asik before Howard gets the ball, he could receive a pass from a teammate. If the defense leaves him after Howard gets the ball, he can receive a pass from Howard or be in good rebounding position when Howard chucks the ball over the double-team. On pick & roll sets-- It is easier to have shooters in this set as one of the bigs is setting the pick, but there are still opportunities for dump offs & offensive rebounds. Harden Isos will be harder, but there are still passing opportunities as JH is a gifted passer.
Not really. Even if the rumor were totally unfounded, Asik would not come out to clarify. This is just the mentality of every employee. No employee would ever tell his boss he's not going to leave the company, especially when he is pissed.
