I don't think PF Changs is claiming or even trying to be traditional Chinese food. I'm pretty sure they market themselves as Chinese Fusion...or Chinese American. People should pretty much know what they are getting when they go in there. Chinese "style" food.
sounds to me like you're trying to sound cool by ragging on the ppl who rag on the mainstream the ppl "hating" on pf chang's are just stating their opinion b/c thats the purpose of this thread...your comments, on the other hand, have no place here other than the reason i've stated
The one we go to is at Southdale Mall next to Cheesecake Factory. I don't care if it is authentic or not, I simply like the food. I heard that a few Sonic's were in the process of opening up. I think there is one in Savage as well.
Mind sharing any recommendations for authentic Chinese in the Cities? I go to Mpls/St. Paul fairly often.
them mexicans sure can cook up some good sesame chicken MMM MMM GOOD authentic chinese food, no thx unless its lamb kebabs!!!!!!!!!
I'm not Asian so I didn't vote. As a cracker-ass, I found the food at P.F. Chang's to be decent enough but the prices were outrageous. As has been said, you can get the same fare or better far more cheaply at many places. I have no desire to flex nuts on a date by bringing her to a swingin' Galleria eatery like that, but I guess it serves its purpose.
When other ethnicities get anal about their food as well... I'm Indian and I love the American/Indian fusion places as well as more authentic Indian places. They both taste different enough that sometimes you can be in the mood for either. There's no reason the same can't be said about P.F. Chang's and other authentic Chinese joints. No reason to hate on one to prove the other better.
Well, I won't pay myself to eat there alone. I don't mind someone else pay for it. I don't like it, the taste is salty and price is not reasonable. I think to most Asian people Panda express is not that great either.
As an Asian guy to my American friends: cut back consumption on salt and sugar, which are as bad as fryed stuff IMO.
I'm not Asian, but I like PF Chang's. It's not authentic Chinese, but it's fine fusion food. That being said, I very rarely go there. I usually go for Thai, sushi, or more authentic Chinese (which is a lot cheaper). To me it's like all the Tex-Mex in Houston. It's awesome, and I miss it like crazy. I can get authentic Mexican food here in Seattle, but it's not the same.
Sishir Chang, aka the Karate Kid Rockets fan from Minnesota. I was MIA for a while, that must be why I missed it.
Chinese food places aren't authentic, but it seems like only Chinese people work there. Sellouts? Your thread is discriminatory and has no place on an equal opportunity message board. At least make a poll option like "I am of another race but still have an opinion about PF Changs"
No problem and always happy to pass on info about T-Wolves land to Rockets fans who find themselve in the Great Pasty North. My favorite is a Hong Kong Noodles near the U of MN. http://mnhongkongnoodle.com/ Good Cantonese style food. A new restaurant called Pagoda that just opened near the U of MN too that is pretty good with a wide selection of Chinese and other Asian dishes. They don't have a website yet but its located in Dinkytown which is one of the university villages next to the U of MN. Another place that is really good is Grand Shanghai on Grand Ave. in St. Paul which does some Shanghainese specialties pretty good. Rainbow Restaurant in Minneapolis not too far from Downtown is generally considered one of the best in the Twin Cities with Southern and Southeast Asian specialties. Be prepared though on a weekend night and even sometimes on a weekday night for a long wait as the place is a hotspot. http://www.rainbowrestaurant.com/ Even if you can't get into Rainbow Restaurant its located on Nicollet Ave. which is nicknamed eat street and there are several good restaurants around there including some really good Vietnamese restaurants.
has anybody made the giant turd joke yet?? ok.. I will!! "my diet for this poo? PF Changs mostly, good stuff!"
PF Chang's is tasty but I wouldn't call it Chinese food. And it is most definitely overpriced for what you can get in real Chinatown. Panda Express and Pei Wei are alright for fast food if you are no where near Chinatown since the prices are more reasonable but I wouldn't call any of those great. Point is, if you want Chinese food, go to Chinatown.
I heard a funny story about a Mexican who came to work in the States and returned to his home town in Mexico after quite a few years. Spoke no English, but did speak Chinese after working so many years in a Chinese restaurant.
