I have a strong feeling that Philippines will surprise the Continent in a day or so. ;)

Knock out their No. 5, Rasheim Wright, you'd have great chance. Force him to shoot jumpers and deny him from driving to the hoops. If he was able to take his first step, it's basically over.

They should try and control the boards, take care of the ball and have a good night in the 3pt area. If they can do these then it is on to the semi finals. Two wins away ( hopefully ) for a trip to Turkey.

Wang Zhizhi is a better player than Yi is right now I think. Yes, I think he would be better in the NBA too. I always thought he should be in the NBA, but now it's kind of late I guess. Well, he's only 30 someone should give him a look.

At least Wang is way better than Brian Cook. He can definitely serve some backup minutes but I guess his defence really scared most of the NBA teams.

He was best utilized by Don Nelson in Dallas. He should have played under Don Nelson for a longer period of time had he managed the relationshiop with CNT well.

nah, not to worry. they ain't that much better. probably just having an off day. besides, they are always mentality weak. pressure will get to them. especially playing in the title game at home. oh well. good enough for me. just keep on developing younger players, can't depend on Yao forever.

I posted this on nets forum (Netsdaily):

[rQUOTEr]Chinese bball fan here. The defeat is humiliating no doubt. Many to blame for but since this is Nets forum, I’ll focus on Yi here.

Yi bball IQ is troublesome. He has a smooth long range jumper and added a couple low post moves but he rarely or should I say he never for once made use of his repertoire as an advantage in the entire tournament. Since the quarterfinals, opponents had already discovered that Yi is timid to shoot perimeter jumper hence they dared Yi to shoot his jumper and left him open many times. In this final game, you can see after the first dunk Yi scored, Ehadidi had never stay close to Yi anymore when Yi got the ball in high post. He just left Yi open and dare him to shoot the ball. Yi hesitated in the first 2 occasions so needless to say, he eventually missed those shots.

Unlike Yao, Yi is reluctant to communicate with his teammates. A couple turnovers took place between him and Zhu (no. 8 CNT player), who was his club teammate when he played for GuangDong, and you can see both of them never even share a word towards each other. During a timeout, soon after another turnover between Yi and Zhu, both of them were sat at least 3 seats apart and there’s no one single CNT player sat in between them! Zhu is supposed to be the closest teammate Yi has in the CNT and they have zero communication, not to mention the rest.

I have not watched as many Nets games as the Rockets games last season but I watched all the games in this Asian Championship tournament. Honestly I don’t like Yi’s game much. He still has a long way to go for his low post moves. His hook shots are not persuasive, frankly he was taking those hook shots “incorrectly”. Perhaps he should learn from the video below and know when to release the ball if he wanted to take high percentage hooks. And yes, Yi’s hook is as ugly as Joey Dorsey’s so far at this point of time.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RTi77n9XaI[/rQUOTEr]

The video is the one Carroll Dowson giving hook shot lesson to Joey Dorsey.

I have more to rant on CNT but I guess I need some days to cool down first.

Not everybody has the character of a Yao. He is easy to talk to and to talk with and a willing leader. a nice guy.
I don't know much about Yi. It's not that he seems to be arrogant but I miss the real passion within the game, the intensity.

Ok Iran, you are officially too good for the Asian championships. It's time to create a middle east tournament with Iran and Turkey and the rest.....

Not really. Some teams played without their star players. However, you are right the middle east teams are that good compared to the rest of Asia. Naturalized players is the order of the day. :D

The Chinese will never allow naturalized players...

Anyway, if you can't beat them, give them their own division....

If you took either Wang or Yi out of CNT, they cant even beat the Chinese Taipei team. This is how bad the CNT, the guards and forwards suck badly. None of them can dribble, can penetrate, all of them stand still like a statue, don't know how to look for position and can't even shoot a decent jumper!

Agree. It is a trend for the Middle East teams.
