The irony is that there are probably more Popeye's locations in Sri Lanka than in the entire state of Minnesota ;)

Speaking of chicken: I wouldn't be surprised if there are more KFC's overseas than here in the USA.

Well I know for a fact there is at least one Popeyes in Minnesota and a second on he way since I know the owner. I only saw one Popeye's in Asia and that was in Changi Airport.

The only reason KFC is still in business is because of its overseas sales.

I think McDonald's now has more overseas locations than US locations as well, I remember that from the "Supersize Me" film.

But yeah, KFC is one of those places I look for when I am overseas...for whatever reason they make better chicken at their overseas locations, probably has something to do with the fact that they're considered an 'upper-class' restaurant in many developing countries where only the rich can afford it.

Oh and Sishir, I was just teasin' ya! :)

^ Agree that KFC portrays itself as more upscale overseas. Also overseas McDonalds, KFC and Burger King serve some different things than they do here so they have a much wider selection.

I've always gotten a kick too out of McDonalds attempts at local cuisine with things like McDimSum, McBeef Redang and for Chinese New Year they've wheeled out the Prosperity and Longevity meals.

That's very true. The fierce competitions in the fast food and dining business in China force those franchises of American origins to offer newer, tastier, and wider selections on their menus. I can't imagine any of the pizzerias and burger- or chicken-"oriented" fast food restaurants here in the Midwest would survive more than 6 months in Shanghai.

I tried Longevity but didn't like it. Still prefer McSpicy burger.

    Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

^ Figures it takes Popeye's to get the other Rox and Stros fan in MN to make an appearance. ;)

Last time I talked to the guy who owns the franchise was about 2 months ago. He said he had a Robbinsdale location in mind but was still getting material together for permits. I doubt construction has started so it might be awhile before it opens.

Next time I talk to him I'll let him know there's interest in Lakeville so maybe he can open a South Metro location.
