I've NEVER been one to protest, boycott, participate in email campaigns etc, but if this is really how the commercial goes (I've not heard it before) I'm about to fire off an email to the station. I suggest everyone here do the same, if you haven't already. I'm all for potty humor, but this is beyond despicable.
this is not the 1st site of its kind honestly and that makes a sick idea even sicker. i am also ashamed 610 let it on the air.... goes to show you that money speaks volumes still
Why are you upset? I mean, you don't have to visit the website or participate in this type of activity. I don't drink but anytime I see or hear a beer or liquor commercial/ad I don't get upset I just say that product is not for me.
I understand but people have cheated, are cheating, and will continue to do so. I don't agree with it but I'm not outraged because I realize their product/service is not marketed to me. If there is a market for it, then there are going to be services like this around and obviously there is a market for it. I don't like it but it's true.
what if someone was on the radio with a product they claimed would cause the eradication of all Mexicans? Theres a line between freedom of advertising and the downright offensive.
Would you be OK with a commercial on 610 that promoted murder? People have murdered, are murdering, and will continue to do. You're not a murderer (I hope) so you realize the product/service isn't marketed to you. So more power to 'em, right? Not comparing having an affair to murder (although kids having their family units ripped apart by infidelity may think it's just as bad) but promoting either is morally outragous.
Murder is illegal, as far as I know adultery/cheating is not. I agree it's wrong and I never said it was right but you know what the site is still going to be there. One way or another it's still going to get promoted if it makes you feel better that it won't get promoted someplace you use then fine. I'm just saying I would ignore it because it doesn't apply to me.
haven't read this thread or been listening to sports talk, but does anyone remember the classic john and lance moment when some woman dialed a number in her husbands cell phone that was labeled "star" because she thought it may have been a stripper or something
"Sign up now, and I guarantee you and affair or your money back." Just heard the new commercial while listening to Stern. My girlfriend also listens to Stern at work, so if I see her getting money back for something I'm kicking one of your asses. Be warned!@
Murder is illegal everywhere. Those places that still have adultery on the books as a punishable offense rarely if ever prosecute for it. If you are in the military you have the potential to be court-martialed, it's not guaranteed. I'll say it again I don't agree with it but it doesn't bother me because I'm not who they are targeting and from the looks of it they are targeting any of you either. Who knows, this thing is probably a big gag being played on all of us.
You think that's the way to deal with things you find morally outragous? Just ignore them? I'm glad everyone doesn't think like this. I don't want to live in a world where people see something they KNOW is wrong (forget about legal or illegal) and just look the other way because it's not affecting them personally. OK, I'm off my soapbox.
WTF? Where the hell did I say that I was still with her? If you knew the sh** I've had to put up with from that woman this year, you wouldn't be questioning my "pair", believe me. Since you seem so eager to prove your "manhood" through an internet message board, maybe you should worry more about your "pair", buddy.
Lil Pun -- it's a private organization...and they make money by listeners fueling advertisers. if listeners are offended, they turn the station...sometimes if they're deeply offended they can let it be known beyond that. again...we're not talking about the government commenting on it...we're talking about private individuals dealing with a private company. if a company is doing something you disagree with...let them know in any way you can think of that doesn't involve hurting someone. this is the only way things change....and i think it's fair to be offended by a group promoting cheating on your wife/husband. I'm actually really encouraged by the responses I'm reading in this thread!
In my previous job, I had three married ladies who wanted to sleep with me. They wrote me notes, made gestures, and said certain things. That's what I was talking about with my first post. I ignored/declined their advances and I considered them morally wrong but I didn't collect all the evidence and present it to their husbands either. Am I wrong for that? Let's not kid ourselves, this type of thing has been around long before this website and it's ads popped up. There are chat rooms, online communities and groups, and social websites that encourage this from some pretty well-known companies like Yahoo!. They may not be in-your-face like this website is being but am I supposed to go and condemn these websites and people that promote them? I remember years ago hearing or seeing ads for chatting and messaging, again it wasn't as upfront as this site but let's not kid ourselves into thinking this stuff did/does not go on in these places too. Don't get off. Sitting here chatting with you made me realize I am wrong too. I'm wrong because I questioned other people's opinions about the website and its promotion. I apologize for that. I can understand how it could enrage some people but I am not one of those people and I hope you all don't think I am any less of a moral person because I do not get offended. Again, I'm sorry Like I said earlier though, I wouldn't be surprised if this was some type of huge gag being played on all of us. LOL!
I heard this on an austin sports radio station, either 1300 or 1530 last sunday and I was like, "Did I just hear that?"
