I don't blame Britney, Jessica, Ashlee, or whatever pop-tart is flavor of the month. I blame their parents for whoring their children out to the media. I blame the record companies for creating musically stunted, cookie-cutter crap and forcing it on the masses.

But mostly I blame people for drinking it all in. I don't understand it in the least how current music became popular. I mean, I do but I don't. But people have no one to blame but themselves.

I mean, look at us: we all hate this crap. Yet here we are talking about it....even if it's to talk about how much we hate it. We're all feeding the monster. Ain't no such thing as bad publicity.

The individual is smart. People are stupid.

When times are good, music generally sucks. Late 60's awesome music: early 90's awesome music, late 90's crap music, 70's generally had crap music also.

    Like hell.

    In the 1970's:

    Led Zeppelin released:
-In Through The Out Door (1979)
-The Song Remains The Same (1976)
    -Presence (1976)
    -Physical Graffiti (1975)
    -Led Zeppelin IV (1971)
    -Led Zeppelin III (1970)

    Pink Floyd released:
    -The Wall (1979)
    -Animals (1977)
    -Wish You Were Here (1975)
-Dark Side Of The Moon (1973)
    -Obscured By Clouds (1972)
    -Meddle (1971)
    -Relics (1971)
    -Atom Heart Mother (1970)

    Black Sabbath released:
    -Never Say Die (1978)
    -Technical Ecstasy (1976)
-We Sold Our Soul For Rock & Roll (1976)
    -Sabotage (1975)
    -Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath (1974)
    -Black Sabbath Vol.4 (1972)
    -Master Of Reality (1971)
    -Paranoid (1971)
    -Black Sabbath (1970)

    The Who released:
    -The Kids Are Alright (1979)
    -Who Are You (1978)
    -The Who By Numbers (1975)
    -Odds And Sods (1974)
    -Quadrophenia (1973)
-Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy (1971)
    -Who's Next (1971)

    Judas Priest released:
    -Hell Bent For Leather (1979)
    -Stained Class (1978)
    -Sin After Sin (1977)
    -Sad Wings Of Destiny (1976)
    -Rocka Rolla (1974)

The above gave birth to the likes of:
    Motorhead released:
    -Overkill (1979)
    -Bomber (1979)
    -Motorhead (1977)

    Van Halen released:
    -Van Halen II (1979)
    -Van Halen (1978)

And that only scratches the surface. I didn't even mention The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Elvis, Jefferson Airplane, etc.

And I'm mildly irritated I put so much effort in a thread about Ashlee freakin' Simpson, but whatever.

The 80's had great music as well. I think someone did a poll here about which decade had the best music and the 80's won by a huge margin.

    Uggggh.

The 1970's were the best by far... everything from Outlaw country to Funk to incredible Rock and wonderful R&B.

Some flaws look good in a woman, just like they think that scars on us are sexy.
One evil doer that I dated always gave me a hard time for loving julia stiles and jewel's smile. The girl I like now has a similar smile, where her biscupids are a little angled and I dig it. It's hawt.

back to ashlee, I'd hit that at least twice a day. She makes me wannaaa.....ahhhh....ahhh.. ..

The strange part I've encountered with this, more with the girl pop stars, is a few time I've asked people a question like "Do you own any Britney Spears music?"

I've gotten a 100% NO response to that, girls included...

WHO BUYS THIS MUSIC?! Multi platinum selling albums yet somhow I dont know a single person ever in any age or gender bracket with a Britney, Jessica or Ashlee album  I'll ask people "Do you have any Katy Perry music?" to see if there's similar results

anyone arguing for 70's music needs to remember the mainstream music back then was freaking disco, funk and country. Sure we can look back and see the quality stuff Led Zep and Floyd were still putting out there, but the crap people were buying and dancing to was garbage.

Funk and country cannot be held to the same standard of hatred that disco met.

The only people who associate the '70's with disco are musically r****ded people who have ZERO clue about what was going on back then. Was it big? Yes, briefly. Is it the enduring legacy that the '70's left humanity with musically? No, it was not. Were there bigger, more influential, more popular things going on back then? Absolutely. Disco didn't last at all. It didn't even make it out of the decade.

The '70's andwith disco gets as bad of a rap as the '80's does with hair bands, if not more.

Some 90,000 people showed up at Comiskey to set fire to disco albums. The same cannot be said for funk and country. Should it happen today? Absolutely. Is it likely? No. Why? Because people have more access to music via the internet and other digital mediums whereas back then, they pretty much had only the radio.

The '70's was the best decade of music, imo, by FAR.

How is a thread about Ashlee Simpson turning into a musical debate? The 2 have nothing in common.
