it’s been drilled in their heads that their chances of dying are very low, so they don’t care...if they give it to someone else who is at an increased risk, then oh well, too bad for them

as long as it isn’t affecting them, they don’t care

until their parents get it or they get a serious case, this virus is nothing

mask wearing has been very good so far, at least in Sugar Land and all the places in Houston I’ve been to

before, I’d estimate maybe 40% were wearing masks...this past week, I haven’t seen anyone in a store or place of business without a mask, or try and enter without one because “it’s their right”

They also don’t get statistics. 99.9% chance of survival is pretty awful when you’re talking about 1000+ people out and about having fun.

I’ve only had 1 personal experience with a covidiot that sticks out

was in a long self-checkout line at Walmart a few weeks ago, and this big, fat guy gets right behind me in line...no mask, and literally like right behind me

I told him to move back, and he muttered something and then said “anyone who dies from this was gonna die anyways”

I told him again to step back and respect my space, and thankfully he did because I wasn’t looking to start a scene

what got to me, is that this dude was very overweight...if he got this virus, there’s a good chance the outcome wouldn’t be good for him...it’s like people believe that a bad case or even death won’t happen to them even tho they’re high risk just living a life of denial

It is relatively nothing compared to the mental suffering they endure for being locked up. Physical health vs mental health. A real calculation. But why would they not be as considerate - well, look around. There are armed freedom fighter showing up at capital hill demanding re-opening. There are my face my freedom groups. There are protester grouped closely together in massive number, sometime lead by local gov officials everywhere. And so on.

With all of these various steams of events, why should I continue to be coup up and suffer mentally...

It’s quite understandably that they now want their own pie and release their mental state of whatever they are facing.

And that’s when you need great leadership to lead the various, valid stream of groups of individuals toward a more common goal. In past crisis, we had this - a somewhat unified direction and path that lead us out of the crisis. We do not have that since this crisis started and we won’t until maybe after nov 2020.

Seven questions for you. Answer yes or no.

    1. Do you care if any of your family members get Coronavirus? (Wife, children, parents, grandparents, aunt's, uncle's, cousins, in-laws or extended family)

    2. Do you think the risk of anyone in your family being hospitalized for Covid-19 is nothing to worry about?

    3. Do you care that if they were hospitalized that they would be isolated from you being there with them?

    4. Do you believe that if they were hospitalized that they could not have the possibility of any further health complications afterwards?

    5. Do you have anyone in your family who could be vulnerable to more serious complications if they were infected?

    6. Do you have anyone in your family delaying medical treatment or testing because they think the risk of getting Coronavirus is worse than waiting?

    7. Do you believe nobody in your family could actually die from Coronavirus if they got it?

Now want their own pie? Young people have been out partying and gathering in large groups from day 1 of this pandemic. If anything, the ones that are suffering mentally are the responsible ones who have been taking the virus seriously the whole time, only going out when necessary, not going out to large gatherings, etc.

I have been invited to numerous things over the past few months, and declined all of them. I would love nothing more than to just chill at friends’ houses chopping it up. I miss playing basketball dearly. I miss eating at restaurants. I miss summer BBQs. I was gonna travel this summer, but now I can’t. I don’t want to pass the virus to others because of my recklessness, especially my parents and grandparents who I visit on occasion to check on.

Yeah, leadership has been non-existent. It is up to the citizens to be responsible, but there’s just too many selfish and dumb people.

One of the exemptions to our Governor's new mask order. In other words, you are going to risk getting Coronavirus if you vote in person, but I'll be damn if I will let that be an excuse for you to qualify to absentee vote.

Exemption #8 to the mask order:

Anyone who is voting, assisting a voter, serving as a poll watcher, or actively administering an election, but wearing a face covering is strongly encouraged

The pandemic is definitely causing some mental suffering, stir crazy feelings and frustration over not being able to hang out as much with friends and family as we would like, but, in my opinion, the risk of mental suffering isn’t greater than the risk of physical suffering if you catch COVID-19. This isn’t the Spanish Flu of 1918, when Americans didn’t have television or smartphones, and automobiles were just being invented. Today, you can watch a few hundred channels or millions of online videos from the comfort of your home or on your phone or your computer/tablet. You can browse the internet and read anything you want on your smartphone, tablet or computer. Want goods or services? You can order them from your phone and have them shipped to your house or pick them up curbside in a matter of minutes or hours. Want to connect with family members or friends that you can’t visit in person? You have FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, etc., for that. You can still walk, bike, run, etc., by yourself in your neighborhood or at a nearby park for exercise. Nobody is forbidding you from taking a day trip in your car to see some sites and clear your head. The list goes on.

There is no shortage of ways someone can stimulate their mind in these trying times. It’s just many Americans act like spoiled brats and think they should get things their way, no matter the situation. These people perfectly encapsulate the Burger King slogan “Have it your way” in every aspect of their lives.

You seem to be suggesting that people who are violating the lockdown or "acting like spoiled brats" are causing the spread. Are you so sure about that? Why does Los Angeles, who had one of the strictest lockdowns in the country, have so many cases?

Like Global Warming, we'll need a lot of deaths to wake up to the chilling thought that it could happen to us too.

We've advanced so far compared to the rubes of past centuries...

At least now we can double down on a vaccine that might or might not work to lessen the necessity of hard work and responsibility.

It's a bit like praying or hiring a rain doctor but more technical.

The question for you is do you have autism because you know the crazies won’t even take the vaccine even if it is effective.

Because they are selfish. Whatever justifies their selfish behavior they will use. You see that in climate change arguments and you see it here. Some people are just selfish assholes
