In Austin, our ICU’s are approaching capacity and it is due to patients trying to stay alive fighting the Coronavirus. The situation in Houston has been described as apocalyptic. It is due to a complete failure of leadership by trump and Pence in Washington, and the Governor here in Austin. The reason the death rate is lower, in comparison to earlier in the pandemic, is because of the experience gained by the medical and scientific communities fighting Covid-19 for the last 4+ months. trump’s dream of the Coronavirus “disappearing” when summer came hasn’t happened, and it is due to his grotesque incompetence. Instead, it has become worse. What will happen in the Fall and Winter months beggars the imagination.

Remember, on Friday the TMC CEOs clarified the misleading news that they were out of capacity - they can create more through their surge plans. I'm sure that news didn't reach your echo chamber, however. Many of the new patients are young and asymptomatic. While we need to protect the vulnerable (which we seem to be doing a better job of), the young and asymptomatic will be fine.
Sounds logical, but actually the data doesn't support your point, since so many cases aren't identified, and the types of people getting the virus is changing towards more young people.

With the vast majority of the deaths having multiple comorbidities (and a huge percentage in nursing homes), one could argue that the coronavirus accelerated many deaths that would have occurred anyways. Further, I question whether the deaths could be overstated, since the number reported is those who died WITH covid, possibly not FROM covid.
Accelerated many deaths that would have occurred anyways could be said for the murder amongst people of quite literally any age group. It's also an awful way to die with no family being allowed in you asshat. There are also plenty of stories of children and young adults dying, a rarity but when there are millions of cases rarities add up into tragic numbers. America has beaten it's previous high in cases 3 days in a row now, 3 days of over 40k cases per day. This is a disaster, it's why our hospitals are jam-packed. Death also isn't the only worry from this virus, there is evidence of long term organ damage in surviving. Please, quit trying to downplay the seriousness of the crisis we are in, please quit being a bigdouche.
