Cuomo killed thousands of people in old folks homes. The economy will collapse without bars. We will turn into Venezuela. People have to eat and we are social beings. It is unconstitutional to wear a mask. I read on OAN that masks do not do anything. This is all an attempt to take away our freedoms. Bill Gates is trying to control us. The only problem Houston has is Sylvester Turner and that little girl Lina Hidalgo.
I do appreciate a post like this that takes a look at real data as opposed to the normal name calling from people lIke deb. On the positive test rate - are we sure sample sizes are comparable and consistent? If there has been an increase in young people in the sample size it may negate your point. On the lockdown stats I struggle to come to the same conclusion you did. There’s too many other variables at play. It was never a true lockdown. People stayed in their homes and then all met up at a single place - the grocery store. Couldn’t have scripted it worse.
There's a great scene in Jurassic Park that addresses the fallacy of the only reason we are seeing more cases is because of new testing. They control system for Jurassic park keeps track of the dinosaurs and includes a figure for dinosaurs found to dinosaurs expected. When questioned on how many dinosaurs are in the park the tech shows that the number of dinosaurs is the same as number of dinosaurs expected so it's impossible that dinosaurs are escaping. Malcolm the mathematician consultant (Jeff Goldblum's character in the movie) ask them to turn off the expected number and do another count. All of a sudden the count of dinosaurs jumps showing that the dinosaurs are breeding and some are escaping. The point of this is that they system was limited by what was expected so the technicians of the park only confirmed what they expected. In the same way if we just expect positive numbers to only increase due to more testing then the rate of infected should largely stay the same. We aren't seeing that and instead it is looking like the infection is much more widely spread than what was expected.
Except that it's not just a matter of place but of time of exposure. Consider if a family of four one person goes out once a week to the grocery story for an hour that means that there is only an hour out of a week chance that 1 out of 4 in that family will get infected and possibly transmit it to others. Now consider if we open that means that all 4 in that family will likely be out increasing the exposure of the family 400%. Then they are out of the house for about 6 hours per day for 5 days a week that means the exposure has increased for that family by 12,000% from what it was under lockdown.
Thank you. I fail to see how that would negate my point. Young people were never restricted from getting tested during the lockdown, too. The only difference is, then, you had to be showing symptoms to get tested because the state didn’t have enough tests and testing locations to accommodate everyone. Also, even if the virus doesn’t hit young people as hard as more vulnerable populations (even if they don’t die, it can still cause irreparable internal damage to their bodies and take years off their lives depending on the person), since Texas is now open for business, they are interacting more with those vulnerable populations through work and increasing social activities. They will spread to those it affects worse if they don’t mask up and then stay home and self quarantine if they catch it. The lockdown wasn’t perfect by any means, and it was never going to crush our curve unless everyone stayed in their homes for that period of time (no grocery stores, essential shopping in person, getting gas, going to work, etc). So from that perspective, I agree with you. However, it did temporarily minimize the number of new cases. That said, yes, it didn’t remove the threat of the virus. It was only supposed to buy us time to get a comprehensive national, state and local testing program in place and stop hospitals from being overwhelmed as they were learning how to treat the virus. We failed on the former because those plans were never developed, but succeeded in accomplishing the latter. The reality is, if we want things to be as open as possible until a vaccine is created, everyone needs to wear a mask, socially distance and be more diligent about washing their hands. Otherwise, everyone has to isolate and avoid coming in contact with other people as much as possible.
Real data, no name calling. Harris County has a population of 4,664,159 and is averaging 959 new cases daily. Let's put that in perspective to countries abroad. If you add up the population of Australia, Denmark, Austria, Norway, Switzerland, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, and Canada you have a total population of 214,633,844 people. If you add up the total new daily cases from all those countries you have 209,969,685 more people and only 22 more cases.
. If Big Texxx does wear his mask and practices social distancing that's a good start because there are way too many people like the lady in this video and people in leadership roles. https://bocanewsnow.com/2020/06/24/watch-the-video-woman-threatens-palm-beach-health-dept-director/
opening up here is just not going well, and with the summer heat, more people are doing the indoor AC thing. That seems to link FL, AZ, TX, and CA: trying to get businesses going but also with air conditioning.
Are you not afraid of turning into Venezuela? OAN ran a report last week that our economy will completely collapse if we do not open completely up. Stop watching leftist garbage news. I suggest OAN as they just report the news with no political spin. Second, just because the left leaning Fox News and CNN are afraid to report on Bill Gates trying to push his virus on us so we have to get his "vaccinations" does not mean it isn't true. The Gates Foundation wants black genocide. We don't want Bill Gates "cure"! A lot of people have been cured drinking green tea and taking wholesome supplements. Last, masks are just attempts to implement Sharia Law TRUMP 2020!! TRUMP 2024! ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS LOVE THE MAGA!! ALL THE UGLY GIRLS ARE DEMOCRATS
I do want to comment on this part of your post. It was actually scripted WORSE than you are describing. The "lockdown" was never a lockdown for the most vulnerable Americans who are "essential employees" who had the worst work conditions, live in the most compact environments, have poor access to preventative health care, and are forced to have an unhealthy diet due with processed foods with high fructose corn syrup (see studies on links to high fructose and Covid). The Grocery Store situation IMO had an impact in spread, but not nearly as much as large segments of the population not even being able to protect themselves from the virus. That and many other situations such as ignorant people thinking its a hoax and hosting parties with friends etc. If this is a debate about locking down again, I actually have to MAYBE be on your side (shocking to even me) that locking down again wouldn't solve much. What would make the most impact is if people right now, wake up, and stop being idiots when they leave their homes. Wear a mask, keep your distance from others, and have better social rules with your friends and family on playdates, home parties, and family visiting. Awareness, cautiousness, and not being a d******d would do wonders for our numbers to slow down without the need to shut down the economy again which would be a DISASTER. We must deal with this issue in a way that solves the problem in a way that allows for a new normal way to productively live our lives. First step is realizing its real, getting your heads out of your butts with the politics, and changing your behavior.
He’s clearly joking. @Nook isn’t on the side of President Trump and his followers that aren’t wearing a mask.
How can these newspapers continue to mislead us? bigtexx should write a letter to their editorial boards... The news clips include news stories, editorials and opinion columns about health and human services from major state and national media outlets. Worldwide, there are more than 9 million cases, with more than 2.3 million cases and at least 119,000 deaths reported in the United States. Texas to impose new safety rules for child care centers due to increase in coronavirus cases Texas Tribune Gov. Abbott directed a state health agency to enact new safety standards for child care centers during the coronavirus — more than a week after prior rules for the centers were made optional. A spokesperson for the governor says the state health commission will be releasing the guidelines Wednesday. A spokesperson for HHS said Tuesday evening that the emergency rules are still in development. Texas tightens coronavirus rules as new cases reach all-time high Austin American-Statesman As new coronavirus cases in Texas topped 5,000 Tuesday — an all-time-high — Gov. Abbott expanded the authority of local governments to limit gatherings of more than 100 people and directed Texas HHS to enact emergency rules providing stricter safety standards at child care centers. Gov. Greg Abbott recommends Texans stay home as coronavirus cases surge Texas Tribune Abbott made two announcements to alter the reopening process. He scaled back a previous statewide order and gave local officials the ability to place restrictions on outdoor gatherings of over 100 people, a threshold he originally set at 500 people. And Abbott said the state would enact mandatory health standards for child care centers after prior rules became voluntary earlier this month. Texas needs to at least triple its number of contact tracers, according to one research model WFAA - Dallas/Fort Worth Gov. Abbott set a goal of 4,000 contact tracers in late April. As of last week, there were 3,192. Lately, though, cases have skyrocketed, and more cases means more contacts and a higher need for contact tracers. A model by a senior researcher at The Mullan Institute at George Washington University says the state needs more than 19,000 contact tracers. Even conservative modeling puts that number just over 10,000. ‘Really exasperating’ — S.A. officials struggle to pinpoint sources of COVID infections San Antonio Express-News As COVID-19 cases surge in San Antonio, public health investigators are scrambling to interview those who contracted the virus to pinpoint the sources of infection. But they’re running into an obstacle: About 40 percent of people who test positive are not returning calls. Even when investigators have gotten through to people with confirmed infections, it can be difficult to narrow down where they were exposed to the virus. Austin's COVID-19 Case Count Is Slow, Making Contract Tracing Ineffective. Blame The Fax Machine. KUT News Austin Public Health's interim Medical Authority Dr. Mark Escott told county commissioners Tuesday that the current system of inputting data is reliant on "archaic" tools like the fax. While some testing providers have migrated to a digital system, many still fax each test record over, and it is then manually inputted into APH's database. Escott said staff enter more than 1,000 faxed test results a day. Lawmakers protest as feds pull support from 4 Harris County COVID testing sites Houston Chronicle The Trump administration is planning to end federal support for local coronavirus testing sites across the nation at the end of the month — including seven in Texas. Texas officials are urging the White House to rethink the move. The Trump administration has long planned to end federal support for the sites and transition them to state and local control. It has pushed back the plan at least once, in April.
Yeah they are. I get my news source from Alex Jones the only independent new source around. The rest is leftist garbage like Fox News.
Really? What news do YOU listen to? OAN isn't beholden to the special interests like leftist FOX and CNN. OAN is family owned and they cover ALL the news and not just a couple of stories.
