And we’re as entitled and self-centered as it gets too. a bunch of health officials in Cali have resigned recently after getting death threats. In NoCal, I was waiting for takeout last night and some choad gets his takeout, just can’t wait to get home, sits next to me on a bench, no mask of course, and starts eating. Okay. Seems legit. This morning, walking the pooch, another choad, jogging and wheezing of course, decides a good pandemic practice is to launch a couple of snot rockets onto the sidewalk nearby. SoCal is getting hit a lot worse, so I can only imagine what it’s like down there right now. People suck, and that includes Californians.
On a positive note, thank God for Lina Hidalgo. She issued an executive order today mandating that Harris County businesses require customers to wear masks starting Monday.
True, it's a start, but if this gets much worse they should close bars and indoor eating at restaurants. Masks can't be worn eating and drinking. Sure, you can avoid them altogether, but the people hanging out mask free go wandering around outside those establishments and the spread continues. Eating and drinking inside restaurants and bars isn't a necessity for anyone. Neither are water parks and such. Get an inflatable pool and just let the kids play in the back yard. Read some books, or find a hobby. Who needs a gym when you can just buy a jump rope for a cardio workout. Do some crunches and push-ups. It's time to do all we can to keep this hospital situation under control. I'd rather suffer a little longer staying in my house than be forced to do forever because we end up like NYC or Italy did.
This immunity, that you are talking about, might last less than a year, like the immunity for the common cold.
I concur 100% with this. There is a big difference between human wants and needs. Every activity you posted above qualifies as a want, and people should be able to go without them during a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. Unlike the Spanish Flu of 1918, we have plenty of technological advances at our fingertips (smartphones, tablets, etc.) and inside our homes (TV’s, gaming consoles, bluetooth speakers for music, etc.) to keep us entertained, and, as you said, we can play outside in our own front or back yards. If you want to support local businesses, order food or other products online and either have your purchase delivered to your door or do curbside pickup. My family was scheduled to go on a vacation to Destin on June 5 for my mom’s birthday, and we canceled it in April. When my wife told me that my family (mom, dad, sister and brother in law) were discussing possibly going out to eat for my mom’s birthday, I told her that if they decided to do so, the three of us weren’t going. (We ended up celebrating my mom’s birthday at my parents house). The same discussion came up for Father’s Day, and I gave my wife the exact same answer. Tomorrow is my birthday and the nine of us will gather at my parents house in Katy to swim and celebrate my birthday along with Father’s Day for me, my dad and brother in law. Finally, our church is now doing one in-person service at 75% capacity, and there’s absolutely no way the three of us are going for the foreseeable future. We also haven’t been back since they reopened the service at 25% and 50% capacity, either. I am perfectly content to watch our services online through my smartphone via Apple TV. If they opt to eliminate those, we’ll start watching Kerry Shook’s service on TV Sunday mornings.
Can you explain why NYC's deaths have fallen off a cliff? And why the US' deaths have fallen off a cliff? Case counts don't matter, because there are many asymptomatic cases, and testing is increasing...
