It's been said many many times, but the government and country as a whole just doesn't seem to have a real response system when new infections occur.

Testing, contact tracing, localized temporary quarantines.
None of this seems to be done in a systematic manner.

So, people are left to watch the up and down movements of these graphs and hope and pray things will get better.
And it gives some politicians the opportunity to talk up the statistics and interpret them in a way that benefits them.

    Too frustrating.

fact check! Arizona has fewer cases per million people than the US average. Check worldometers for the data. I just confirmed.

secondly, she’s absolutely right in what she says. The objective was never to eliminate all cases. We need to protect the vulnerable and let the rest of the people live their lives.

No state across America should have reopened unless they met the CDC’s criteria for doing so. At the behest of President Trump, they ignored those guidelines and here we are. Also, reopening has not jump started the U.S. economy because consumer confidence has yet to return, for good reason. It isn’t going to return until a vaccine is created, or everyone takes the necessary steps to stop the transmission of the virus.

Unfortunately, we currently have a president that only cares about himself and his reelection chances than making difficult but necessary decisions during a public health crisis. So, good luck having everyone take the necessary steps to dramatically slow the transmission of the virus. A vaccine is our only hope at this point.

If we had a leader for a president that encouraged such behavior and understood its importance in these trying times, they would. If said president was a leader, he also would have partnered with major American manufacturing companies to mass produce masks and test kits so that every American could be tested for the virus during our one-and-a-half month lockdown. Instead, Trump never developed a national testing program and wasted that period of time.

Unfortunately, our current president is not a leader, but, rather, a narcissistic jerk that is encouraging people to not wear masks, not practice social distancing, and ignore the advice of the country’s top public health officials in a selfish, last ditch effort to get reelected come November.

Remember the last data point on your graph is from the aggregation of prison data in Jefferson county. Otherwise looks like the risk of reopening was worth the reward.

You really need to contact each of these area news sources to correct their information...

A 'second wave' and a warning as coronavirus cases rise in Bexar County
    KENS-TV San Antonio

On Thursday, Metro Health reported 192 new cases. It is the largest spike reported in a single day since the pandemic started. It is also the third straight night with more than 100 new cases in Bexar County. On Wednesday, 135 were reported, along with 180 on Tuesday. Metro Health Director Dr. Dawn Emerick said people are becoming more complacent. She said she has seen more people not wearing their masks, or practicing social distancing.

Grim milestone: Travis County surpasses 100 coronavirus deaths amid spike in cases
    Austin American-Statesman

Travis County officials on Thursday reported two new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the number of people who have died in connection to the virus to 101. Health officials also confirmed 129 new cases of the coronavirus. The total number of known cases is now 4,238. Health officials said earlier this week they are seeing an increase in cases partly because fewer residents are using face coverings in public or practicing social distancing.

Coronavirus Case Count Rising In Reopened Texas: ‘It’s Definitely Of Great Concern’
    KTVT-TV Dallas/Fort Worth

With Covid-19 cases trending up in North Texas, health officials are urging the community to continue to take precautions. While many people have grown weary with shelter-in-place restrictions, health experts insist they work.

Analysis: Casting nervous looks at Texas’ medical charts as numbers worsen
    Texas Tribune

The rate of hospitalizations — the ratio of hospitalized patients to the total number of current cases in Texas — has been relatively flat and was at 8.5% on Wednesday. The number of hospitalizations has risen to all-time highs, though officials say hospitals have enough capacity to spare for now. The infection rate, a measure of positive cases against the number of tests conducted, has been on an upward trend since mid-May and was at 11.9% on Tuesday.

Expert warns of possible 2nd wave of Covid infections with Texas feeling brunt of impact
    KEYE-TV Austin

In the past few weeks, Texas, Arizona and Arkansas saw record-breaking new case numbers, hospitalizations and ICU stays. Dr. Peter Hotez, Professor and Dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, attributes the rise to the reopening of the businesses like restaurants and bars. He says many people are also relaxing their social distancing measures and less people are wearing masks.

Don't they know their cases are dropping like a rock?

California is going to get scary also. People are walking around feeling like they "beat" the virus already. Not at all.

It really is hard to stay vigilante against the silent enemy. But, once more people start witnessing their friends, family, co-workers, get it, they'll probably start hunkering down again. Numbers are just numbers to a lot of people, but 1st hand case studies, that's something different.

I was just thinking the same thing. Numbers are so relatively low compared to our population that it still seems abstract to a lot of people. But as stories and cases expand and more people start to know a friend or relative suffering from it, the caution and masks will be more automatic.

I think a comfortable all day soft hazmat helmet is possible and would provide absolute protection along with handwear in close quarters.

and if that happen widely, the economy tank, maybe even more than it had

On a balance scale, Virus is on one side, Economy and Health is on the other side.

Trump Republican get confused and think Economy and Health are on the opposite side.
