A poll with choices this absurd should be public. We need to know who the public enemies are.

As time passes, I realize we'll never seen another player with his greatness. He turned me into a die hard Rockets fan. Hakeem was the Rockets offensively, the ball always when threw him on every play. The other team knew what was gonna happen but just couldn't stop it, double teams, triple teams, fronting, the whole team would collapse on him leaving everyone just to try to stop him and it just didn't matter. Defensively, you couldn't come in the paint, he was either there waiting on you or he'd come out of no where and the ball would be swatted away. Scoring, rebounds, assists, defense he had it all. Slams, finger rolls, a sweet shot, fakes, spins, turnarounds, he had it all. Humble, hard worker, fierce on the court and killer instinct. Again he had it all.

Sometimes it seems like it was all just a "Dream", then I see a clip and I know it was real. Hakeem "The Dream", he was unstoppable. I just wish we would have had a few more years with him. Long enough for him to at least show Duncan how a true great player plays. :p

I get a kick out of the youngsters not giving Dream his due. It's like, dude, are you serious? Maybe it's that they can't relate to who Dream played against so the stats don't have context. I guess put it this way, Dwight Howard is regarded as the most athletic, physical specimen at center today and he's been DPOY and won the rebounding title two years in a row now. Well David Robinson was flat out a better player than Dwight Howard. It's not even really close. DRob had a sophisticated offensive game, he could run the floor, he could shoot jumpers, he won a scoring title, he won an MVP, he won a DPOY, he led the league in rebounding twice, he led the league in blocks twice, he could drive and draw fouls like crazy, he was a legit franchise center.

I doubt many of you could imagine a center in the NBA right now dropping 35 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks per game on Dwight Howard's head in a Conference Finals series and embarrassing him with incredible moves and footwork the way Hakeem did Robinson. It was as epic a torching at the center position as there has ever been. Two first ballot Hall of Famer centers in their primes going head to head. It doesn't get any better. Too bad you all missed it.

Hakeem Olajuwon's Legend has grown. He is the only player you dont really see in the spotlight after his retirement. They show Bill Russel and they show Michael Jordan. Those two are respectively great players. You hardly see or hear anything about Hakeem anymore and his disappearance in the spotlight makes him even more mysterious. The dude was a straight warrior out of Zulu Land. Hakeem Olajuwon is the American Dream. Everyone should read his autobiography. Hakeem would have demolished all the centers in the league right now. Dude was straight African.

One of the things I always thought was cool about Hakeem was that he preformed at such a high level against such legendary competition and in the play-offs no less. He knocked Robinson, Ewing, Kareem, and O'Neal out of the playoffs.

It is upsetting that many people on this board do not truly understand the amazing player that Hakeem was. The era of big men that he played in and the competition that he faced was by it's self was great. But to dominate the way he did and make it look soo easy at times, we were so lucky to have Hakeem play for us.

Interesting that 2 of the most dominate players in the 80's were Majic Johnson and Larry Bird; neither of whom ever won a scoring title...

But amazingly they won a lot of championships.

I don't like it when people who aren't real Rocket fans use the Rockets part in their handle.

    It's like if LakersMania1992 said
Magic Johnson didn't even win a scoring title! He's not better than Tmac!

    T_Man,

these guys don't care about accomplishments because their hero doesn't either.
