Here is von.

I liked that team a lot. Watching Brooks quickness brings back a lot of good memories as well. The dude would be an amazing addition next to Hardin, he shoots lights out in a system like this.

Lin needs to play fearless like brooks did. Brooks was subpar in terms of PG ability but the fact he was a dead on shooter and so quick opened things up for everybody. This was after Yao went out and we literally had a D-league squad with the exception of scola/artest/brooks/landry and we were able to take the soon to be champions to 7 games.

Before that series we beat the Blazers and Brooks was even more instrumental.

These are playoff games where the defense of the opposing team is at its height and buying buckets is the hardest. Notice how Brooks shooting thread spaces the floor and allows good transition buckets.

    I agree with that.

Another good comparison is Mike James. Had a season in which he avg'd something like 20 and 6. Got a decent contract (not albatross level like Lin's contract) and massively under performed from then on.

Everyone should have seen Mike James fluke season coming. The guy was useless with the rockets and at the beginning of 08-09 season before being waived where he was a liability on the court every second he was on.

I think we're referring to different thing. Mike James had a (better than) "linsanity" type year in Toronto after winning a championship with Detroit.

Did nothing the rest of his career.
This is just my line of reasoning against LOF's holding onto linsanity.
You just posted Aaron Brooks. Brooks from 08-manu ginobli effing him over was better than Lin could ever be.

    What's Aaron up to nowadays?

I think you have exaggerated a bit here.

How often exactly has Lin made the brain dead passes, long 2s, traveling, oblivious TOs and taking a worse shot? May be once in several games for each.

I have seen Kobe do all of those recently. Do you think he also has a very low ball IQ?

Consistency is the problem with him. He has shown good body control, dribble, lateral speed, court vision, passing etc. However, you don't know what you get with him on a nightly basis. He's all over from great to garbage. Like I said, it's an eerily similar situation to Tracy but, Tracy's worst is about Lin's average, and Tracy had a somewhat legitimate excuse with the injuries. Tracy was also older. Maybe a more apt comparison for Lin is Stromile Swift.

Yea I was referring to that as well, in Toronto the guy was basically given the go ahead to do whatever and with the system in play, shot selection things seemed to play in his favor. As far as sustaining it for an entire season, you are right on about it being more impressive than what Lin did, but Mike James doesn't warrant the type of following that Lin has...

As far as Aaron goes I'm glad you emphasized that. The guy was never the same after that injury, went on a downward spiral and picked it up again but he hasn't been able to relish the type of role he did with the rockets. He is with the Kings right now and will put up big numbers every now and then but given the Kings situation not many players on the team have any stability to work with given their ****ty organization.

DudeWah's referring to the 05-06 season when Mike James was traded to Toronto for Alston. James was on a contract year and tore through that season and massively underperformed afterward.

westbrook has more TO than Lin and his fg% is slightly lower. Lin needs to shoot more and improve his 3p game. his D is comparable if not better than westbrook. westbrook has more playing time so his stats will be more inflated.
its only fair to compare jlin with westbrook because both team are top offensive teams.
as you can see both player have high turnover rate as expected with offensive team style.

Someone brought it up above. At the time we had Lowry and Brooks we had the perfect combo guard. Lowry was the better PG overall but with Adelman's system and Brooks deadly shot he was the better performer for a time. When Aaron got chippy Lowry was in the game and would calm things down and settle everything.

    I miss those days.

I was at the Spurs game when that happened. Poor AB, from that stellar Lakers series to the bottom.

Well, at least he still has a career.

More or less, I agree with what you are saying.

The end point is this: There have been times where certain pg's/certain players have exceeded their actual value. They have gone on crazy streaks that have impressed all who followed them. And they were nothing short of impressive for that time.

But for one reason or another, in the end, barely any of them were worth anything after a while. Not to say that it would be impossible for someone to break the mold. However, more than likely Lin will not.

No matter how much LOF's want to ignore the facts, this situation has happened with other players in the past. And it will happen in the future too. I just don't have much faith in Lin and he is proving that it is warranted.

The efficiency of these six PGs is heavily aided by the bigs they have, who help set the picks while still moving and often use their hands to push or pull the defender illegally to create the space for jump shooting, or clear the driving lane to the rim for the PG.

If Lin has the same kind of PNR and protection help from the Rockets, I'll bet his PTS will immediately jump to 16+ and his PER to 20+.

the stats all there. jlin problem is he only neeeds to improve his 3p% and shoot more. EFF is offensive bias so shooting more will increase it.

Can we stop with the picks bull****?

The other day during the mavs/rockets game Hubie Brown commented on how the Rockets bigs set good picks for Harden. That man has been around basketball/coaching seemingly his whole life and he's at least 7038 years old.

I'll take his word over any of yours.
Also, LOF's posts should be used in stats classes to show just how much stats can be manipulated by bias to paint whatever point the user wants.
