He was reporting for Sportscenter the after the all-star rookie game night if im not mistaken from the Toyota center, and they asked him what team he thought would make a run in the west, to which he responded to with "the Rockets" and elaborated upon how if Yao ever gets a mean streak they would be a tough team to face and although he thought Yao's status as a "softie" wasnt shed yet that he was still a 20/10 guy at this stage of his career. He was very fair in his assessment and seemed very Pro Rockets at that point.
Must of missed that because everything I've heard from him since has been devoid of any Rockets mention
wow I am shocked that SAS said that.. I have never watched his show but maybe I wont change the channel next time it comes on. I like having the media on our side and giving our guys props.. J
SAS is everything I hate about today's sports reporting culture. Just another frustrated athlete who thinks he's bigger than the sport he covers.
You'll never win this one dude. Let it go, there must be a thread a month devoted to Smith hating. He's just not liked.
Well i didnt state what i stated to "win" anything, just simply stating my opinion on his show and his commentary and style of reporting.
LMAO (for the sake of don, that stands for Laughing My Arse Off ) thats a low blow, but a good one nonetheless.
I remember him saying that about the Rockets too. Also, his interviews are not bad. I just hate the way he talks and maybe if he yells loud enough people might think he has some intelligence.
I agree with you, no need to be defensive. I'm just saying that stephen smith is liked by only a few people on this site. and "win" is just an expression so chil.
Just to be clear, his "style of reporting" really has NOTHING to do with reporting in a journalistic sense. He is a commentator. He voice opinions. He is not a journalist who reports legitimate source information based on viable leads. As a commentator, you can like him or hate him. I personally find his opinions to be overly simplistic and his delivery to be caustic and annoying. But, to each his own.
I have no problem with short cuts when everyone knows what they mean. "I'm" and "can't" are part of accepted language. Steven A Smith is not someone that deserves an initial nickname. Yes, he is an ESPN analyst, but so is Bill Walton. If you posted something that said, "BW has no clue", I'm going to ask what BW means. My only point is that when people use initials too much, the initials get clouded with other initials. FOR INSTANCE, SAS CAN BE USED AS THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS AND STEVEN A SMITH. JVG and Tmac are fine on this site, but SAS? Mateo, you know you're not proving anything here and I'm not either, I'm just trying to clear up future initial dominated posts. Do you honestly think that everyone thinks just like you do? Talk to your girlfriends about D.A. and see if they know who you are talking about. Tell them about YM and TM and DW and SS and see how knowledgeable you sound. We have people on this page from all over the world and you expect people to understand your slang? You have the ability to think bigger than yourself don't you?
I was thinking more of the Peter Vescey type but Rome is good too.... Oh and for the record he is a bit of a racist and his penchant for screaming at the camera is a more then annoying.
