Can you block me please? You ran me out of the Texans forum with your utter crap. I know visiting and living are much different things. I'm not a child, so no need to try and educate me.

Rather than whining, it would probably be easier and more productive for you to just block me if you are so upset. Also there would be the added bonus of not derailing this thread.

I'm not a cap expert, far from it, but figured it wouldn't work. Thanks for explaining.

It's been said Chicago(and Houston) may not be able to offer Carmelo his full [starting] max [salary] and may have to take a small pay cut but Chicago is going to fit in Afflalo too?! And they keep Gibson and Butler?!

Bill Simmons just throwing **** out there. Thanks Bill.

I'm not seeing it I guess. All of those moves do not leave room to sign Melo. Also, I think Afflalo is worth more than the 16 & 19 picks in the draft. What are the odds at getting a player as good as Afflalo drafting that low in the draft?

A big understanding when rockers meet with him is if he's going to be playing the 3 or 4 and will parsons still be here wanting 35+ mins. Yes he's played the 4 but never full time. Seems like chi wants him to play the 3.

Those are my favorite "who says no" moments, when he comes up with a completely implausible trade that wouldn't even work under the cap and then says "who says no".

@WojYahooNBA: As planned, Carmelo Anthony will file notice with Knicks on Monday that he's opted-out of 2014-'15 season on contract, source tells Yahoo.

Of all of the available mins at the 4 spot for the Knicks last season, Melo logged 73% of those minutes. That is pretty much full time. By comparison he only logged 43% of the available minutes at the 3 spot for the Knicks last season. (per 82games.com)

If Melo starts at the 4 and slides to the 3 when Parsons is off the floor (TJones to the 4) he could maintain his minutes with out spending all of his time at the 4 spot. Splitting time at the 3 & 4 spot between him, Parsons and TJones would also limit wear and tear on all 3 players.

@BimaThug: Even if Bulls stripped themselves down to only Rose, Noah, Gibson, Afflalo & Butler, w/no other salary, could only pay Melo about $11M.

Well, the question is, is he comfortable with guarding the other teams 4 for the majority of the game. Parsons can take turns at it, and Melo should be the 3 when Parsons is on the bench. On offense Melo can just play his game, it will probably be only Howard inside anyways.

I think Melo would be alright with guarding 4s. The bigger question is: does he believe he will be featured in a big enough role here. Harden loves the ball, Howard wants his postups and Melo wants to shoot 15-20 times a game. So I think we'd mostly need to convince him, that he will fit in this team without having to take a backseat.

Ya I lived there and it's a nice city, very compact compares to ny as in restaurants and shops are along just a few main roads and the max distance needed for walking the two big streets is only 2 miles. With food, shops and museums all in walking distance it's a great city. What sucks is the lack of sun and the winter is pretty much October to May. Some ppl stating it's depressing and scientifically it is as the lack of sun causes seasonal affective disorder and it's really evident as when I was seeing in my patients as well as ppl I knew there. The sun is always good to have. Chicago is a lot more expensive to live comfortably because of the crazy prices. Paying what I did for rent I could have had a house or something over here in houston. The traffic does blow more in chicago than houston. Public transportation is ok if your in the city but when you get out of the loop it gets cumbersome because of the choke points because of the buses getting stuck as well.

Regardless melo will be staying on michigan ave and has to decide whether he values winning or living in a city slightly less glamorous as NYC or going to houston. Money taxes are not really going to be swaying him like they would us normal folk. Basically where he thinks he can win.
