Ha... what a load of crap. As a New Yorker, I hope every New York team NEVER wins ever again. There's no leverage here on Melo's part. He can either ask for a max from the Knicks or walk.

 

Eh... I don't know about that. I love Houston as a city but I can understand the pressure to stay in a city like New York. He probably and he should believe that he has the ability to elevate that team. Dolan put the team in financial hell by signing 1 legged Amaré and Tyson "how did he get that money" Chandler to such huge contracts. He also took on the contract of Andrea Barnani, which made no sense.

I think Phil has the ability to create a very good team once those contracts are off the books after next season. There has to be a desire to lift that city to basketball prominence, as little of a chance of that happening really exists. Carmelo loves New York and is exactly where he wanted to play. When you are wealthy and powerful in New York City it is like nothing else I'm sure. I hope we land LeBron or Carmelo but each of them have reasons to stay where they are.

 

He's elevated that team to missing the playoffs in the East.... He can love that city all he wants, but New York is an awful place to play basketball....unless you are playing against the Knicks, because that's awesome. The best part about playing in MSG is that you get to beat up on a scrub Knicks team and look awesome while doing so.

Had it too good there? They missed the playoffs in the east for god sake! The man is 30, he's trying to win, they can't even make the playoffs and there saying he has it too good here and we know he's itching to be resigned. Delusional fans lol.

 

They can retain Parsons by signing him to Birds Rights. Yes he will probably have to take a little less money and he is willing to do so.

I wouldn't imagine they would be interested in someone who is almost certainly going to be amnestied.

Some of you keep complaining about how Anthony will make our defense worse need to stop and think for a second.

Carmelo Anthony will never be the elite defender in this league. He doesn't have the elite level of defensive awareness like Lebron James. He isn't going to make this team a top defensive team in the league.

Anthony is well known for his incredible potent offense and never known for his defense. But what we fail to forget is that our starting PF Terrence Jones, is pretty bad defensively. Jones is a good weakside shot blocker but his post defense is porous. Carmelo Anthony at least is a decent post defender.

Whenever the Rockets go small ball, James Harden and Chandler Parsons get the task of guarding opposing PF. Both players doesn't have the size and strength to play post defense. With Anthony and his 6'8 240 lbs body, the Rockets are better suited to play small ball and Anthony is more capable of guarding the 4 position. The advantage is no PF in the NBA can keep up with Carmelo Anthony.

 

Not feeling too confident about Melo.

change the whole culture of the team, hard nose hungry players & elite defenders at the 1,3,5 elite offense at 2,4

-dont play around with the bulls they are trying to make things happen, trying to move lin + asik and get melo to take less etc. may not work, just make the trade & move on. don't do what warriors are doing letting klay get in the way of K.love.

 

That just goes to show you that the owner does want to to the necessary...pay to send Boozer home. And if he doesn't do that, they won't be signing ANy FAs. Add Derrick "I don't recruit" Rose pushing for a longshot trade with Love, while dissing Melo, then I'd be shocked if Melo goes to Chicago.
