I think the point was that he supports looking at all the options out there to see what might work (that's the theme of the article in general) - a contrast to much of the current administration's policy of trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Other places including his website and articles with other advisors have brought up any number of other ideas/options.

Thank you, Northside and SuperS32, for those information-laden posts.

If people agree with most of Obama's stances, they will see good judgment, and if they disagree, they will see flawed judgment.

It sounds bad, but imagine how different things might be if European imperial powers had done just that in their colonies. Anyways, I don't see where Obama said that.

Go rent Primary Colors; there's one scene where she asks everyone to leave the room before she "starts in" on Bill.

Oh, no problem America, it's just that I feel so excited that you all will be blessed with a president who, well, understands stuff. I don't think that's been happening too much these last 8 years. :)

But it's nice to see that some of my "liberal" points are getting read. I do have more, if you all are curious enough.

Just saw a Hillary ad attacking Obama on his judgment that said...

"Barack Obama says he has the judgment to be president. But as chairman of an oversight committee charged with the force fighting al-qaida in Afghanistan, he was too busy running for president to hold even one hearing."

    Ouch!

    Very true

But by the same token, can we not ask where was the oversight the past 5 years on the war from republicans?

    perspective

BTW Hillary also sits on the Senate Armed Services committee. Find out the last time she sat in on a hearing.

He's got enough good judgement (or at least his supporters do) to not call people at home 5 times a day. "Texans for Hillary" is out of control.

I believe this was the last time she was on that committee. July of last year.

I'm leaning towards Obama after reading all the posts on this board as well as doing my own research. I could change my mind between now and tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what else the Clinton machine will dig up to throw more mud at Obama.

About 9 months ago. Makes sense

The point being, they're both running for president. I think it's disingenuous to bring up something that they all have to do in order to run for the job.

He supported the War and all he is about is telling people what a perfect world this would be when he is elected. Enough with the we need to come together crap.

    Now, I'm confused again....

Looks like he didn't vote in the US senate but also did the same routine in the Illinois Senate.

He voted "Present 130 times" in Illinois

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/20/us/politics/20obama.html

    How is THIS good judgment?

What is he gonna do as president? This guy MAKES NO DECISIONS! Only the ones that make him politically correct to look good.

In further research, in 2004, he voted in Illinois against Gay Marriage. But earlier this week, he reaches out to the LGBT saying he is for their rights. So he was against it as Illinois senator in 2004 but is now for Gay rights in 2008?

I really hate this post invasion and occupation moral argument when the war proponents were largely immune from moral arguments from the vast majority of the religious denominations.

Maybe the best thing is to withdraw and to give the Iraqis a couple of trillion to rebuild their country after they have straightened things out as a form of war reparations for tearing their country apart. A sizeable tax increase may be necessary to pay for these reparations. Hopefully it might discourage such elective wars in the future.

Don't think it is morally right to make our volunteer army, composed of largely the lower to middle class, keep paying the price for Dubya's folly.,

Why don't you ask yourself who you'd like appointing lifetime Federal judges to Federal District Courts and the Supreme Court? If you like the people appointed by Bush, then you should be happy with McCain.

If you think that the Democratic Party isn't going to be running against the record of George W. Bush's 7+ years in office and the record of the GOP controlled Congress, you need a reality check. They should run against that record and they will. Don't worry... they'll have plenty to say about John McCain. Like why he's embraced the endorsement of a San Antonio evangelist who can't wait for Armageddon, so the Jews of Israel who don't convert to "Christianity" can go to Hell in their millions. I wish I had made that up.

    Impeach Bush.

I agree with you. I'm not a Republican. I just don't know about Obama or Clinton.

I tend to vote Democrat and I probably will vote for whomever wins the democaratic nomination but I have some serious reservations about Obama. He's seems to be all style and no substance. I haven't seen any tangible results from anything he has done from his private or public life. He's a little too liberal for my tastes when it comes to the economy also.

    protectionist
    pro tax
    confrontational with our trading partners

Its not what I want to hear when we are facing the biggest economic challenges since the stagflation era of the 70's.

I also have concerns about his health care plan. If you are going to have universal healthcare, you have to make sure everyone that can pay in, pays in. Otherwise its no different from what we have now which is the insured paying for everyone's elses healthcare through high insurance premiums and high hospital bills.

I don't dislike Obama, I just don't think he's the great hope that everyone makes out to be. To me, he appears to be someone that has no tangible footprint on the world with a great gift for gab.

I'm sure the Iraqi's do as well. Those different factions of Islam don't exactly get along - and making their country "democratic" isn't going to bring peace. Hate him or not, Saddam was the one keeping that country in order.
