I would hate to see him on the Mavs, Jazz or Spurs. Management has to figure out a way to keep him.

yet it is less than the MLE (the supposed median income of NBA players)

players like Stro Swift get more than that and do MUCH less to help his team win than Alston.

If he was getting 7-8M...I would agree with the assessment that he was saddled with a huge contract that nobody wants.

agree about stro swift. rafer's contract may not seem that much compared to other players, but it still comes into play with teams either near or over the luxury tax figure who would basically be paying double for rafer's services.

I can't beliave that 41-old center is requesting more money!
Don't get me wrong , I love Deke and he is probably one of my favourite players but I can't beliave that he wants more money.
IF HE LEAVES,we'll have a BIG hole at C hole.

that would be a valid point if we were just giving him away for no return contracts.

the ideal situation would be as has been discussed for weeks now....trading some of our guard/swing glut for a veteran big.

The salaries have to match within 125%, so in that situation(the only valid scenario since we arent just gonna give him away no matter how much some here would like to) his salary isnt an albatross at all.

now...that all hinges on if the "charges" are valid against him.....something smells fishy to me there...so we shall see what transpires.

i don't see how morey can trade rafer now with all of his troubles lately. the only way i see the rockets being able to trade rafer is to include him with another player in which a team really wants, and unfortunately that 1 player may be luther head. but we will see.

true, the incidents this summer are troubling...but until something comes of them, I kinda doubt they are deal-killers (if any deal was being discussed)

The thing is, on the interwebs, people are so quick to automatically assume that just because a player is accused of something they are guilty.

now, granted I havent kept up since late Mondays, but last I read there were not any witnesses saying it actually happened the way the guy is claiming and no one has proven in a court of law that Alston's side of the story is wrong.

as for the other incident, I hadnt heard where it was proven the valet's side of the story was the correct one.

IF (notice this is all theoretical at this point) a team needed a point guard, adn they were discussing a trade with the ROckets and given the fact he has not made a pattern of bad behavior, I doubt that a GM would kill a deal over two incidents that have not been proven.

I do agree that IF he gets traded, it will be in conjunction with another player...without a doubt.

We need to get rid of several players, and if it takes Luther packaged with Alston...so be it. Luther is a damn fine three shooter and Im sure that there are teams out there that would like to have him.

agree, but we are talking about rafer, not deron williams or tony parker. gms are not calling morey day and night for rafer's services because of his third tier skills.
