I wouldn't write McGrady off just yet. If the surgery and rehab are successful, he'll be 30 or 31 when he returns. And taking a year away from b-ball might actually give him and his body some time to heal overall. There's plenty of time for McGrady to get out of the first round and even win a ring. That said, it probably won't be happening with the Rockets.
