(Article 9/1/07) Scola's 27 pts vs. Brazil sends Argentina to Olympics

I said it before i say it again, he will be a borderline star in this league. he has all the requierd tools to be a star.

 

when you break a NBA record... having only 4 guys scoring in a playoff game... as long as Scola, Francais and James... can put up some points... ill be happy

 

Really great game for Scola. He showed that he can be the top guy on the team aiagnst a really good opponent. I know NBA is something different but I really do think he can handle it

 

I can't for this season to begin. The Rockets will have a team with a lot passion that will be tough every single night. Scola, Francis, and James will bring a toughness that has been lacking since Sura went out.

Now Nene is injured pretty badly. Is there any possibility we can get Nene with Alston+Reed+Sura+(JL3)?

 

Did I miss something? You want a player with a history of injury problems? Even for scrubs, I don't know if I do that deal, lol.

I disagree, I think he will have some plays run for him. He's our only post presence other than Yao. When Yao goes out he'll get some stuff run for him if he shows he can make use of it. Most coaches never want a team on the floor where all the scoring comes from the perimeter. Just a little inside O keeps the other team honest.

 

I disagree. You don't need a lot of plays run for you to be the 3rd scorer on the team. With hustle, running the floor , rebounding , and garbage baskets are enough for a third scorer on the team. Scola has shown in FIBA play that he is an efficient scorer. He doesn't need that many shot attempts to get 20 points and he doesn't need a lot of dribbling to score.
He makes getting 20 points look easy because he moves so well on the floor... and because he is an efficient scorer. He , like Ginobili, as an offensive player also knows how to draw fouls or to somehow initiate a foul from the defender. If he can get 20 points or more on any given night in the tough FIBA games as the main threat , i don't think he'll have any problem getting his points as a peripheral threat.

 

Why for houston:
We get a good reserve PF/C can rebound and score. Can start at PF if Scola is not as good as expected in NBA or when we need a strong PF for defense in some games. Can start at C if Yao is injured (hopefully won't). I know Nene is injury prone, but as a reserve, it is ok. Nene also has a big contract, but we are in win now mode, right? And we only give up players we don't need.

Why for Denver:
They get cap space. They get a PG they want in Alston. On the realgm Denver board a similar trade has been discussed months ago and it seemed to be acceptable to their fans. And now Nene is injured!!

Why for me: I did not watch a lot of Nene's game, but I did watch the recent series between Nuggets and Spurs. I was impressed by Nene's performance in both ends, against Duncan.

You won't want this as soon as you see the importance of his long hair on both sides of the court during gametime . It's one of the secret weapon in his arsenal.

 

I don't know where you people get this. Hayes is a 57% career fg percentage. Thats higher than Yao's last year. In fact he leads the rockets.
