It's hell getting old for a dog. Our family dog recently passed away. Well last year and when she couldn't stand anymore, we knew we had to put her down. It was so so sad. She had such a good life though. Many good years.

I finally got around to trying the Gabapentin on Sunny (female yellow lab). She did not react well to that med at all. She threw up every meal I tried to give it to her with and I was doing half dose. She also was uncoordinated on her feet and it was sad watching her try to move around. I had read that the dog needs to adjust to the medication but vomiting on 3 different attempts...it did not seem she was adjusting. So, I stopped it. The one night...she gave me the "F U!" look and went to bed early feeling bad. lol

Heck, I think the NSAID Previcox also makes her uncoordinated on her feet. I gave her a half dose this morning and she was having trouble. But, later in the day, she was moving better. Maybe I should try dosing her at night before bed?

I'm real close to ordering some CBD oil for dogs...just to see if it works. It's expensive but so is the Previcox at $3 a pill. If I can use the CBD oil instead of the Previcox or with a reduced dose of Previcox, then that would be good.

It's so hard to understand these meds and how they work or...if they are working. This is such BS. I swear it feels like she does best with no meds.

And, I give her these semi-expensive Chondroitin/MSM supplement chews and I don't see the effects of that working, either. But, everyone else is like..."oh my senior dog is running around like a puppy again!". Yea...BS!

It feels like I might as well just be flushing cash down the toilet at this point.

My just turned 15 years old yellow lab is now getting CBD Hip + Joint soft chews (600 mg). Each chew contains 20 mg of CBD. She seems to like the bacon flavored treat okay...which is a relief. The chew is very delicate and crumbles easily.

This is day 2. I can't say I've noticed any effects yet...not even a change in demeanor. They say that, if it works, then it could take a few weeks before you notice changes...time needed for the CBD to build up in the system.

    I'll post back the results.

@MRS_KILLATRON2000 and I have been giving our old boy (11 years) CBD tincture and treats lately. I can really see a difference. He's back to doing tippy taps when it's dinner time. I would definitely recommend for relief.
