Which is a possibility. Management said they wanted to see the team healthy this second half of the season so they could evaluate what moves to make this off-season. Don't be shocked if Stack Jack name is thrown around in trade rumors. Monta Ellis too.
regardless of how the playoffs turn out, i hope this current group of Rockets gets another chance once (if) they're completely healthy. T-Mac included.
umm are we reading into this a bit.. it's an article about a promotion which he may or may not have been forced to participate in. i think we are really grasping at straws if we derive the thread title from a bs PETA promo article.
I really think Ron will resign with the Rockets because he enjoys playing with a familiar coach and system, and I think he really likes this city. He is really good but he knows he is not a Kobe or Lebron type player so he should not ask for max type money. A three to four year deal a little higher than mid-level would be great. Make is happen Les.
No matter what, I trust Morey to make smart decisions. I am sure he has all the analyzed data about Artest's value to the team.
We're gonna ask for their 2 best players without giving any one of our 3 best? Puhlease. The bare minimum to get Ellis without a laugh and hangup on the Warriors end would probably be an offer of something like Scola+Brooks+filler.
don't care what he said. we should look at this matter later. he could do a whole lot more better. hope he'll have a wonderful time while the playoffs comes. we need a good Artest, not the me-mode one.
We might as well call ourselves the Houston Warriors. I like Captain Jack but he's not coming here and Maggette is not really a good fit especially if we re-sign Artest. I do love the possibility of Monta Ellis. Sure he's a bit undersized but he's an interesting prospect/talent. These playoffs should be very telling whether or not Brooks has the longevity to last as a starter or develp into a potential star in this league. Of course if Brooks performs or exceeds expectations I'd look elsewhere besides Monta but as of now I'd definitely sell high on Brooks and get the sure thing in Monta since they're very similar players (neither are true pg's) except Monta's got like 4 inches on him with less 3pt accuracy but better at everything else.
IN MOREY WE TRUST Sign him up!! Get rid of T-Slack during this upcoming season and see what else we can get to help the core of this team maybe some paint presence. Then we'll talk about actually being a season ticket holder.
morey has the answers. Whatever Morey and les decide to give Artest I'm sure is the correct amount. It's up to him if he wants to stay with that amount. But since Morey has done no wrong so far and has greatly exceeded my expectations, in Morey I trust.
HUH? First where did that come from? Second, I dont think Artest cares, he has not made that much in his career yet. This guy is looking to get paid first. Everything else is secondary.
I think his defense hasn't been as great as previous years, but his defense is still good...I think the only thing he does bad is he takes too many gambles on going for steals...he does get some, but sometimes it just looks like he is doing it and there is no way he would get the steal...he did that against Kobe in the lakers game and he shouldn't have cuz kobe nailed the three...he should of just stayed in front of him..... but overall, i guess thats what we have to live with...but im sure his defense in the playoffs will be unbelievable against our opponents As for Artest's contract, im pretty sure we will resign him for what is right....MOREY and LES are the best at what they do, so they will figure it out
Golden State is going to want to keep their young players since they're rebuilding. I think they're going to keep Monta Ellis and Biedrins long term. McGrady's expiring contract would be very attractive to the Warriors. Stephen Jackson would be a great fit here. He has a long term deal that's very attractive. Given his age, he would not want to be part of a rebuilding process and he is definitely going to be available. As part of a package, the Warriors would most likely ask another team to take on the contracts of either Maggette or Crawford. If I were Morey, I would propose giving them T-Mac's expiring contract for Jackson, Crawford, and either Randolph or Brandon Wright. Golden State gets an expiring $22 million contract to help them rebuild and the Rockets get a very good swingman in Jackson, a solid scorer and combo guard in Crawford, and a legitimate backup for Yao in either Wright or Randolph that's young. A win-win for both sides.
Yeah but see... I think Steve wanted to stay. He's from Maryland and Tmac from Florida so yeah they'd live there. Steve was traded...cut...trade...etc etc it's not like he just left on his own free will. Artest has the option of leaving this team.
It won't cost too much to re-sign Ron IMHO, 10m-12m/yr is very enough to retain Ron and it's also a prize the rockets can accept. Ron is a superstar caliber player that deserves more than that, but he has been under-paid since he joined the league due to his bad temper. Maybe some of our rivals like Mavs will mailciously offer him an exaggerated contract at the expense of paying 10m luxury tax, and that's the worse scenario I can imagine. If that truely happened then morey would work his bottom off seeking for a trade that can take away tmac and bring us a couple of decent players in return.
