I hope that Yao was misquoted. I don't think he really said what was put in that article. There is no beef, Artest will be a Rocket.
Of course! Utah will always hate the Rockets....we did (along with the Bulls) pretty much eliminate the Azz (not Jazz) title hopes in the 90's. Now it will happen in the New Millineo
WTF! Ive just found out this news by coming onto this forum! What great news! Ive been saying for years now that we need an angry young man on this team that can do all the dirty work and get the rest of the team fired up when needed. Sure you don't want him flying off the handle, but anything is better than looking to a soft b*tch like T Mac to fill that role. I have to say, I dont think we have ever had such a stacked side in our history. I mean we have Steve Francis on the very edge of even being in our uniformed squad! And defensively.....wow. If T Mac cant get it dont now...ship his ar$e out of here forever!
Ron said he'll change his number next season. When asked about if he's checked to see if the number he wants is available on the Rockets, he said "Oh, I know nobody in this league probly has this number!"
Yao Ming is thrilled with Artest’s coming to Houston. See the following interview by FOX 26 Sports in China yesterday: Exclusive: Yao Ming Thrilled with Artest Trade Last Edited: Wednesday, 30 Jul 2008, 10:51 AM CDT Created: Wednesday, 30 Jul 2008, 10:51 AM CDT Ron Artest FOX 26 Sports Related Items Links More Houston Sports News HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets center Yao Ming is thrilled at the addition of forward Ron Artest to the team's roster. Artest was acquired by the Rockets Tuesday from Sacramento for guard Bobby Jackson, rookie forward Donte Green, Houston's first round draft pick in 2009, and cash. Any players going from the Kings to the Rockets have not been identified. Yao said a trade of this magnitude sends a clear message. "For this trade to happen it means the Rockets have to start winning right now," Yao said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports from Nanjing, China. "This is not for the future. "We gave up Green, a number one, and Bobby Jackson." Yao said Artest will be able to help the Rockets right away. "Obviously Ron Artest is a very physical player and that's what we need right now," Yao said. "This will bring us a lot of scoring in the paint and lots of rebounding. "I learned that in a game against him." Yao is impressed with Artest's versatility. "We now have a lot of options," Yao said. "He can play the three (small forward) and the four (power forward). "Ron Artest has lots of experience in the regular season and the playoffs." Yao is hopeful the acquisition of Artest, which will not become official until Aug. 14, will be the Rockets ticket out of the first round. Houston has not advanced past the first round in the last ten years. "What we have with this team before the trade was good," Yao said. "We can play pretty well in the regular season. "Now we can play better in the playoffs." However, Yao is not allowing himself to think about the potential to win an NBA championship." "We have to take this step by step," Yao said. "We have not gotten out of the first round in a few years. "We have to break that down first and then we can think about what we are going to do after that. Ron Artest will be help us do that." With that Yao returns to his primary focus right now and that is helping the Chinese National Basketball team in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
All it takes is Smith being patient for one more year and another great draft year for the Kings roster to look much more promising
Yeah honestly, I would love for us to beat utah, even more so than winning a championship. I hate utah that much.
Im not hating on the Rockets they are not a rival team however you will eat your words. Martin was 6th in the nba last year in ppg and did it more efficiently than anyone. Spencer had a solid rookie year and shows great potential to be a star in the league. Beno showed he can become a great back up one day when the Kings find a star pg. (Until then he is a okay filler) Thompson while still yet to be seen looks like a very versatile player that can play 3-5 and will be a solid rebounder. Kings will have 2 (and counting) 1st round picks next year. Geoff Petrie is one of the best GM's in all sports and has attracted big time names to our city before and will do it again. Those are just a few reasons the Kings will not be a team to sleep on in the coming years. Your team is in the running now and good for you guys however we are reloading.
There are rocket fans on our site and we (kingsfans.com) dont give them any problems in fact the more opinions/ideas on a forum the better right?
You're actually a really great poster -- thank you for coming over. I'm glad it was you and not some idiot talking trash, probably like you'll get now that you posted your forum link lol. I hope you stick around to give you insight on things -- we have a Nugs fan and Memphis fan (sorry to anyone I forgot). We don't speak about any hidden Mav fans though. Hope you stick around! EDIT: Feel free to go into the NBA dish as well!
I appreciate the love man, but it all goes back to the this team I love. H-town baby, bringing back that championship to where it belongs, with the ghetto-ist player we will all grow to love.
