It's a good trade. And one people should be optimistic about. Personally, I have mixed feelings about Artest. I've seen him play for a long time now, and I love his game, but his attitude is just horrific and represents a lot of what's wrong with sports. He's a man-child - someone who feels privledged and doesn't appreciate what he has. Maybe he's grown, but I haven't seen that. He comes here with a lot of baggage - and it's going to follow him around especially after he gets emotional about anything. It will always be, whether fairly or not, "oh no - there goes the loose cannon again!" This is mad max 2. He can make us great, but he can also make us suffer. It's a risk, and there's no knowing what will happen. But I guess it's a risk we have to take because the talent is unquestionable.
Probably Not, I think he would want to re-sign, but not for an MLE like he said before, He probably wants a few less million than T-Mac gets per year.
Wow. If rumors are correct the Rockets got Artest for Jackson, Donte Green and a pick. Even if Artest doesn't work out the Rockets didn't really lose anything. Color me impressed.
This is a clip off ESPN: Rockets agree to send pick, Greene, Jackson to Kings for Artest By Marc Stein ESPN.com Although it's believed that the Rockets have made no promises to keep the 28-year-old beyond the coming season, when he'll earn a modest (by NBA standards) $7.4 million, Artest insisted that the opportunity to play with Tracy McGrady and Yao "wipes everything out" in terms of his summer frustrations with the Kings or any disappointment that he didn't end up with the Lakers. "I haven't spoken to anybody yet," Artest said. "But if that's true [about a Houston trade], I don't even know what to say. I could be amazing. I don't even know the potential. "I just think so highly of Mr. Adelman that I can't really speak on it. When I first got to Sacramento [in 2006], he believed in me. I said, 'Coach, we're going to the playoffs,' and everybody laughed at me. He said, 'Ron, we're going to go as far as you take us.' I've never had a coach do that before. "How can you say no to Rick Adelman? How can anyone not be happy playing for Rick Adelman?" _____________________________________________ This means that if he likes the freedom and confidence our coach and team offers, he won't want to screw it up in his one year to prove himself. He will be on his best behavior trying to get picked up for more years. This is good news.
OMFG I was on holidays and sudennly i got an sms. Me friend wrote me: Ron Artest is heading to Houston.. I was like WTF? Of course I didn't belive it first but than other friend called me and said the same thing. I still didn't belive it but now (Im at home) after reading all news i'm kina frozen. I can't belive we got Ron Artest who I belive was our biggest need without giving up Shane. It is just unbelivable. We got something out of nothing. It just makes the Rockets a lot better offensivly and defensivly. All I can say is : dreams really come true...
Does anyone else feel that it's incredible that Morey turned Juwan Howard's horrific contract into Ron Artest? Amazing...
i just read the last 10 pages of this thread and i laughed out loud at hillboy. i'm gonna send him an Artest jersey for Christmas.
McGrady is out of excuses, he better perform in the playoffs, I'm sick of his b.s, he needs walk the walk.
You are right. No more excuses, not only for Tracy but for the whole team. With this roster they just have to win something
Dude its not like he's making cocky guarantees or talking smack or bragging. As long as he tries his best and pours all of his heart in, I'm fine. Of course he has a lot of blame that is well deserved, but don't make it sound like he's making excuses, because he never has.
People were also upset over the Bonzi Wells trade. Now, Morey has turned that into getting Bonzi Wells Supreme.
