Morey - "How bout a magic trick? I can make all other team's hope disappear...*makes artest deal*...TA DA! NOW ITS GONE."
Don't think I've ever been as shocked by a move as I was by this. Totally floored. I'll be honest I wanted no part of Artest, because he's a proven nutjob and I'd figured we'd give up major parts of our team, but given what Morey got them to take for him. Damn I just don't see how you can't like this deal? You are given a free roll to win it all, if it doesn't work it doesn't work. If it does well you win big. Free roll of the dice to win big, you have to take the roll!
Oh yea I know were ready now. Alston/Francis vs Williams McGrady/Barry vs Brewer Artest/Battier vs Kirlenko Scola/Landry vs Boozer Yao/Mutombo vs Okur and the rest We finally have the pieces...it really IS time.
Somebody had posted some days back that a blockbuster deal was coming up over the weekend, he really nailed it on the head!! I wonder if Steve Francis cares to play, now
exactly i dont like the idea of giving up next year's first round pick as well but as the past few drafts have shown teams are willing to sell their higher first round picks. Also getting memphis' second round next year was huge. it more than likely will be 31-35 which means a guy who should have been first round slipping to you. Also knowing Morey he probably will end up packaging Luther Head for a future first round pick as well and knowing his luck it may be a higher pick than what the rockets would be selecting at normally. the team still has some decisions to make though
So... I guess that's OK to you, right? I hate this trade. Welcome to the HOUSTON DALLAS COWBOYS ROCKETS season of 2008-2009.
You have every right to feel that way. So do the fans of the 1993-1994 Houston Rockets, the 1996-1998 Chicago Bulls, the 2003-2004 Detroit Pistons, the 2000-2002 Los Angeles Lakers, and the 2003, 2005, and 2007 San Antonio Spurs. Because, as we all know, Vernon Maxwell, Dennis Rodman, Rasheed Wallace, and Kobe Bryant (but he was innocent, of course) are all choir boys, not to mention the purposefully-trying-to-injure antics of Bruce Bowen. Of course, your opinion is your opinion. But let's not start saying we're rooting for our teams because of the "good guys" on the roster. Believe me, there's a lot of stuff that goes on with players who you think are good but really are quite a**holes. Ron Artest just happens to be a do-it-in-public nutcase.
Exactly, it's like you went all-in with $1 to win the million dollar pots against less than a handful of opponents.
I love the deal. It helps us in so many ways. I have a question for Hillboy though, I respect your opinion and see the angle you're taking with the trade but you said that we traded our soul for Artest. I ask because we didn't trade any like high character people like Battier, I would hardly call Bobby Jackson/Donte Greene the soul of our team.
