i can't wait to see what kind of endorsement deals he gets in china now. Tru Warrior meet the chinese basketball market population 300 million.
I wouldn't mind keeping Battier as a backup.. he can play the 2 or the 3 (to relieve T-Mac or Artest).. our bench just got a lot deeper
That's probably true, Because no one else would be able to score off the bench except Brent Barry, and he's not able to create his own shot.
There aren't many defensive backups these days, Most backups are usually instant offensive players like Ben Gordon, Manu Ginobili, Leandro Barbosa those type players, I'm not saying all of them don't play D, but they don't even come close to Battier's D and Battier's Offense does not come close to theres.
Barry was playing backup PG for the Spurs in the playoffs. When Brooks plays like a rookie which is bound to happen here and there, plan to see Barry at the 1 (unless Francis becomes a role player).
I saw Manu handle the ball and do the PG things more often than Barry, Barry is just more of a shooter and not much, I'm guessing you are expecting him to perform like Jon Barry where he played PG in Houston sometimes?
You're right about Barry, but he has the ball-handling ability to take some of the burden off Alston. But having two capable ball-handlers in the SG position in Barry and McGrady is going to pay off. Brooks is going to have to step up and fill Jackson's shoes real quick, but seeing his play in the summer league, I think he has it in him to do so. Lastly, keeping Battier is a huge advantage for the Rockets. He will allow Adelman to be more creative in his use of Artest, switching him between the 3 and 4 positions depending on the matchup. Plus, Battier'll still take on all the tough perimeter defensive assignments, keeping McGrady from wearing out. No way we let Battier go at this point, IMO.
Splash! I very interested to see both Artest and Dorsey on the floor at the same time. 2 inforcers and NO LAYUPS!
Just checking the one of the Lakers forums, it's funny how many people post on theresay that "We beat them that last game but they didn't have Gasol". I guess they forgot that Yao was out at that time. Revisionist history FTL.
man..i am shocked! Bobby Jackson Donte Greene First-round draft pick Cash considerations and we kept everyone...scola..battier..alston. it's like we added artest for nothing.
I concur. Plus, look at the 1986-87 Laker's Michael Cooper. He was the defensive player of the year and he wasn't even a starter. We also all know what the Lakers did that post-season.
I'm reading some reports that say Jackson, Greene, a draft pick, and cash but some are saying a player to be named. Does that just mean Greene since he technically cannot be traded yet?
Hey you never know man. Artest may be thinking more about the team (than himself) this time around. Looks like he matured even just a bit last year. We do need a scorer off the bench. And it doesnt matter who starts, but who finishes the game.
