if morey gives this up, he will be locked as rockets for life. Can we say the next CD until he retires?
Yep, the Rockets just got nuts. And that's a good thing. Nice guys don't get past the first round of the playoffs. No doubt, Ron Artest brings a line-crossing resume to the Rockets. Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, Shane Battier are all good players and fine people. Not one of them strikes fear in an opponent. Thanks to a trade with Sacramento they've added Artest, someone who goes back and forth across that mythical "line" like he's playing hopscotch. You really, really, don't want to mess with the Rockets now. That goes for opposing fans as well. Go ahead and group the Rockets with the Hornets and Spurs -- not just because they're in the same division, but because they can legitimately challenge the Lakers for their Western Conference crown. As one Western Conference scout said when asked about the trade, "Wow. They just moved up, for sure. They were missing that element, that danger, that toughness, that [expletive]. And now they have it." Yes, Artest is a risk. When the Indiana Pacers were ascending in the East, Artest single-handedly caused the avalanche that wiped them off the mountain. There's the history of his problems off the court and in the stands. And you never know where basketball ranks on his priority list at any given moment. But the Rockets had to do something like this. How many consecutive first-round losses could they stand? (Um, six, apparently.) http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=artestdeal2-080730
Thanks to Artest, it's possible to imagine a new numerical benchmark for both T-Mac and Yao: at least eight games in the playoffs.
I was going to bed when I heard Dave Ward announce that the Rockets made a huge trade, but I thought I was cool and I thought I knew it was the Iverson trade. I woke up this morning and before my workout, I checked the homepage (www.clutchfans.net, of course) and it is still sinking in about the trade. I've been up for 4 hours already and other than getting laid 1st thing in the morning, this is the BEST way to wake up!
I think Battier might have to be traded, Hopefully for a PG or a backup PG, Brent Barry and Rafer Alston isn't going to cut it and the rockets will need a decent backup Power Forward as well since Donte Greene is out.
Sura faints! Artest, Dorsey, and Deke are going to be a frontline of Ouch! No Layups (without internal bleeding)!
I think you may be thinking of Joey Dorsey, our high second-round pick. Greene isn't a power forward but a guard forward type. I'm happy to go with Alston backed up by Barry/Brooks. I'd even want to see Francis get some minutes in the first half of the season to see if he can contribute. If Brooks/Barry/Francis doesn't look like it's happening, there's plenty of time before the trade deadline. No need to give away Battier at this point.
Barry is not a PG type of player, he is more of a shooting guard now-a-days, in his prime he was a PG, but that's passed, but I think i was thinking about Dorsey, but I didn't like him as much as i liked Greene, Anyways, I think Battier should be traded for a PG now so the chemistry can be built earlier instead of in the trade deadline where the season is already half-way through the books.
WOW!!! and we kept Shane Battier.. Morey is the man!! Starting lineup: Yao Scola Artest T-Mac Rafer coming off the bench: Dorsey Hayes Battier Barry Brooks That is sick!!!
