I think Rafer is a fine PG for this team now. We really don't need to do anything at this point. I wonder how Battier will feel about being a backup though.

So do Battier and his intangibles still need to be traded? Bobby Jackson's expiring contract has always been worth more than Battier in trade. That's why Mike James was traded for B-Jax. Morey wasn't being cheap by getting an expiring contract for Mike James. He still has to pay the same salary. It was a strategic move like Scola for Spanoulis.

Morey is exploiting cheap salary cap relief to gain better players.

Stop dreaming, neither Battier nor Alston will be traded and AI will never be a Rocket! He just won't fit in the current scheme.

And Tmac/Battier/Artest/Scola/Yao too. Biggest lineup for Rockets in years.
or Tmac/Battier/Artest/Hayes/Yao(Deke), perhaps the best defensive lineup in NBA.

the sheer entertainment value of having a crazy man/borderline psycho on the team ala Mad Max is going to be great, the fans will feed off his energy.

I can already see Red Rowdies dressed up as gorillas pounding their chests!

You mean Ron Artest is a crazy son of a gun. You all should pray that he keeps his head on straight.

I was just thinking the same thing. I hate the "unofficial" aspect of this. It can't be official until Aug. 14th.

This is also great because it keeps Artest from joining the Lakers.

Wow - this was the move I kept telling myself there was no way we could make. I can't believe Morey pulled it off. Kudos to addressing our toughness at the same time as giving us size, length, depth, and defense at the G/F. I truly felt we were missing a bad dude like Artest on our team when we faced bullies like Utah the past couple of years. Assuming he doesn't go crazy, he will be a HUGE help for the Rockets both on the court and by allowing them to sit Tmac more minutes per game so he doesn't wear himself out through the season. Plus we now have two of the best defensive G/Fs in the game to throw at most team's best player the WHOLE game allowing Tmac again to rest while he focuses on the offensive need where we especially need him.

This is an absolute steal - thank you, Morey!
