All I want to know is... how did the guy in GERMANY beat all of the Houston people to this story when his initial source was the Chron?
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ARTEST WILL BE A 1 YEAR RENTAL AND LEAVE NEXT YEAR AND ROCKETS WON'T HAVE HIS BRID RIGHTS
So the rockets give up a promising rookie, their productive backup PG, plus a future 1st round pick for a loose cannon/cancerous nut job. Let me piss against the wind in saying i hate this deal.
Its win next year baby. Question is will Les make an attempt at matching a 10-14M deal to resign Artest or try to negotiate a 4-6 year extension in that range. Some consideration has to be given to show Artest some love to make him want to play in Houston.
Move over Spurs!! Man I love Morey. Its amazing that he probably planned all of this out from the very beginning starting from the draft. First he intentionally punched the Spurs in the nuts by taking their target (Batum), and not only that, but used it to trade for two guys. Then, as if he planned this out all along, he uses one of those two guys (Donte) + B. Jackson (whose expiring contract was intentional probably too) to get the biggest splash this year-without trading away Yao/Tmac/Battier! God this man is brilliant!
Let's be clear here, we gave up Bobby Jackson and a project rookie plus maybe a late round draft pick for a guy who is probably the best defender in the league, plus a hard nosed player who'll play all out everyday....positive is if things don't work out we did not motgage the future we gave up one old fart and two unknowns....... he makes us an instant elite contender. You've gotta get happy about that....If you do a benefit/cost analysis, this thing looks great.
because we gave away 2 first round picks for 1 year rental. we wont have any picks to get players to backup yao and all the aging players *hopes yao demands trade*
Bobby Jackson + Donte Greene + Unknown Player* + 2009 1st round draft pick + $1 million cash considerations (Total salary: $6.8893M) for Ron Artest (Total salary: $7.4M) Rockets can send between $5.82M to $9.35M of salary back to the Kings using the +/- 25% and +/- 100K trade rule. *Unknown player can be any player making $2.4607M or less. List of players who qualify and are eligible for trade: Steve Novak Mike Harris Luther Head Chuck Hayes Aaron Brooks Joey Dorsey ($0, Draft Rights).
